I was honestly afraid immediately after reading the Tennessean's report yesterday that Butch might get canned, but his response + Hart's response lead me to believe that he's safe and that the university has his back.

The only way he loses his job now is if there's a tape of him calling Bowles a traitor or if someone can somehow prove that he encouraged/protected players who allegedly assaulted Bowles (and the assaults themselves can be proven).

If it goes to court, the timeline moves back to the point where it won't even affect anything this upcoming season IMO anyway. So worst case scenario, we still get to enjoy one more good year, lol.

I have no idea what was done or if anything was done. If anything, it would have been something behind close doors. Nothing should be done, IMO. It wasn't an unwarranted assault in which multiple people attacked an unknowing victim. This was simply a fight. Between two college football players.

I know other posters have already mentioned this, but this happens ALL THE TIME. It's commonplace. Players fought in the locker room, in the training room, in the weight room, on the practice field, etc. ALL THE TIME. These things happen. I've personally seen it happen during my college football days. We are talking about a team of college-aged, testosterone-filled males who are playing a game that revolves around smashing into/hitting eachother. Fights are going to happen. Normally they are broken up and it's over. Ocassionally a player would have to run extra gassers after practice. That's it. All these people spouting off that Maggitt should be criminally charged or should have been kicked off the team have no clue. That's not how it works.

Media is nuts.

Gary Parrish in Memphis had a female KNS reporter on radio. She skirted some of the questions with some vague answers, but I can't believe the things that the media believes.

He said Hart was dumb by saying bad things happen at night. I am a criminal defense attorney, and bad things happen at night! Also he talks about bringing certain players on campus, and it is ironic that Johnson, Maggitt, and Bowles are all players before Jones. I can't remember if Williams was or not.

This is just crazy, crazy.

Edit: Marlin Lane and Orta were before Jones as well.
