If instant media releases and Twitter existed in '97 people would have been expressing outrage over the allegation Coach Fulmer harassed a female trainer imitating she found big men attractive and how he was abusing his position of power.

Everyone deserves social justice but no one deserves instant crucifixion upon an allegation.

I think Butch knows and believes not every guy accused of sexual assault is innocent. Personally, this allegation doesn't seem aligned with any action he's taken in his discipline tenure at UT.

always, this society is too easy to give up when it comes to standing for truth

What if there is a small piece of this where the truth isn't something we want to come out?

IMO there is next to zero chance we did everything correct in this many cases that is required by law. Way too many Ways to take a misstep in such matters for there not to have been at least a small mistake IMO

if it never came out the problem would continue to exist

you can bring light to darkness but never anymore darkness to where light exists

I am going with Butch on this one. Nothing in his character so far has told me he would single out one of his players as a traitor.

The question is what is worse for PR

Settling and admitting no wrong doing or

Taking this to trial and being found liable because some AD member didn't follow protocol and getting hit with a guilty as charges tag

The grand jury is mostly a rubber stamp process in TN. The DA will prepare the evidence that they want presented, and most of the time, an officer just testifies to hearsay information. The Johnson and Williams case was a little different because it was never charged and went straight to the grand jury. But the grand jury will only hear what the DA wants them to hear. I don't think they will consider an indictment on a separate charge unless the DA wants them to. This is from 10+ years of practice.

I've never really paid much attention to grand jury proceedings for that reason. It seems like a tremendous waste of time in my opinion.

Not sure about Memphis but here it's a nearly unwaivable "right" that is used as a bludgeon to force people who can't make bond to plead guilty.

I know without a doubt that butch jones would never say something like that with this alleged incident at hand. He would do anything in his power to help the victim. This is beyond wrong and shameful what these people are doing to this university. This is about money, and runs deeper into the power hungry "heads" in the administration that aren't big on our athletics. This is out of control and the media is doing a piss poor job at telling everything in the wrong wording and not telling both sides to every story. Drae isn't what you think. That particular allegation isn't what it is. That's why it angers me. I know first hand.

Above is what Travis had to say

no the question, fundamentally is right and wrong, you are implying a tolerance of deception... covering up a truth would be better in the long run. I maintain the opposite, that a truth now can prevent a hundred untruths later on.. eventually it must be faced

i dont think we have anything to hide, if we did tho i want it dealt with, not left to fester from a boil to amputation of a limb

Butch mother Effin jones. I'm glad to see the school and coaches standing up for what they believe in. We are going to get a lot of **** thrown at us to try to force the university's hand, but if we brave the storm and don't fall into the bullying/smear campaign from the plaintiffs I am confident that UT will emerge the victor. Hopefully the media will cover that just as much.

I also cant bring myself to believe that a man whose every public speech and appearance is so meticulously calculated would suddenly make such a callous misstep in his interpersonal interactions, especially considering the context.

I don't think we have anything of real significance to hide either but I am familiar enough with the burden placed on a University when such accusations are made to know mistakes are easily made
