2016 Election

Trump going through his list of groups and saying "I love the poorly educated!" was the highlight of the night.

Mix heavy sarcasm with an equal dose of defiance and you get the sentiment. There is an ignorant segment of the Republican party...and their names are Preibus, McConnell, Bush, Boehner, Corker, Ryan and the rest of establishment. Trump figured them out and took full advantage of it and the anger Republican voters have towards them. The statement above fuels the fire--it is what the GOP elites think of their voters--and keeps it burning hot as the SEC primaries loom large.

This is what happens when a party's leadership promises conservatism and ends up delivering on the agenda of the President they promised to fight.

People voted for clear opposition. They didn't vote for back-slapping coalition. You've got Trump because a plurality of voters no longer believe anything the GOP ruling class has to say on any issue.

Trump wins again..I admit I didn't think he would get this far..there was a poll early on that said that 30% of GOP voters would never vote for him..hope I'm wrong but I don't think he can beat Hillary, who will have single women excited to vote to elect the first woman president

Only hope is Kasich and Carson drop out ASAP then Cruz and Rubio have to meet and one of them has to suck it up and call it quits otherwise we get a Trump nomination and a Hillary presidency.

Sweeping win for Trump. Wins among all income levels, all education levels, and among all ideological and cultural levels.

Rubio will be saying again that he did better than expected, and that he is one step closer to the presidency.

The fact he won Latinos is amazing. I thought all the political elite thought Trump's ceiling was 30-35% and he would lose as the field shrinks but that looks false as well. When he first got in I thought it was all a joke and never could have guessed this. I've learned for awhile now never to believe the reports of Trump's demise, he seems to escape them quite regularly now.

It's a good sign for Republicans that turn out is setting records in these early states - there is enthusiasm. Some is because of so many candidates but some is clearly a motivated base.

My lefty friends are having conniptions about Trump. There was an op-ed in the Washington Post about how "dangerous" he is and how he must be stopped. The author (a Harvard prof BTW) didn't waste any time comparing him to Hitler - boom; right there in the first paragraph.

Part of me is hoping he wins just to see people lose their minds!

I don't really see the comparison. Hitler wanted the Jews to register so that he knew who they were, and where they lived so he could send them off to camps. Trump wants to know who the Muslims are and wants them to register. Two different religions to blame for our nation's problems.

clearly he will be the nominee but I dont think he will beat hillary unless she is in prison by the time the general happens

I could see him winning or losing against her.

I'm getting the feeling that he's attracting some of the Reagan Democrats (white, blue collar).

The challenge IMHO will be the Republican machine giving it's full support for ground game and some of the Republican base staying home.

Will be interesting.

If it's Trump v Hillary and my vote counts (usually doesn't since Alabama is a lock for Trump) then I'll happily pull the lever for him. Otherwise it's Gary Johnson again.

I will sit at home, I will not vote for him. I was close a few weeks ago to being able to support him in the general (never in the primary) but all he does it trash anyone who gets close to him in numbers, points to his poll numbers and calls everyone a liar. His act has really worn on me. I can't believe after 8 years of Barry our next option is Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump, how far we have fallen.

I won't vote for either one of them. He would divide this country up even further than where it's at now.

Yep. Just like Obama went far left upon assumption of the office. He will go far right and continue the stalemate.

But it will be great.
