I agree on Twitter. I find it pretty annoying and could do without all the user interaction. I use it as a consolidated source for sports and world news. I never tweet, and rarely retweet something. Anyone got a better alternative to twitter? A twitter without the "average joe" tweeting that is widely used?

Too much credit was given to the validity of the allegations. The media was the main culprit. I don't understand how people can be so irresponsible and imply that the allegations are 100% accurate prior to any litigation or legal procedures that reveal a fair process of gathering facts and evidence presentations. Its aggravating because it paints an unfair picture of a party that CANNOT speak to defend themselves given an in progress filing.

Grinds my gears... 😒

What exactly doesn't "raise eyebrows" with the idiot mob? Are you really espousing not defending the university, because you are afraid of the fight? That is why these lunatics are ruining the world now.

I get where you're coming from.

UT is fighting this in court it seems. That is defending the university.

UT has a history of bungling things. Hart and Cheek not being there will give the haters the material they were looking for. I'm not sure there is a possible way this thing could have been handled that wouldn't bring heat from fake outrage, media mobs, etc.

Like I said, I'm gonna watch as soon as I get a link.

@SportsPlusShow has some interesting tweets on manning. Put up and interview w Naughright and said she admitted to contacting Shaun King about the story to make $. I'd link it if I weren't on mobile.

I hear Myspace is nice this time of year.

Agree.

It is insanity out there. Twitter is a pretty good way to get vols news from VQ, Patrick brown and maybe other beat writers. But the rest of circus on there coming from the masses? No thanks. Who has time for that garbage?

It was extremely useful. I got all my local news, weather, ut info on there.

It's just too much now. You can't even follow local news outlets cause they tweet constantly now. I had to follow 90% of the UT sports writer dudes cause it's just overkill. Not just that, the attention given to the faux outrage crowd is just maddening.

Agree with this.

There appears to be a growing culture of people whose entire identities revolve around being angry at something. Those people are going to be angry regardless. Those are not the intended audience of this conference.

The intended audience is the group who can think for itself, gather information with as little bias as possible and reach rational conclusions. Those people are the ones who needed to hear UT stick up for itself.

The PC culture is very much ruining society as we know it. That's my thought on the subject...however much that is worth.

Im a liberal guy and I completely agree. The PC people are uniformed morons who behave like terrorists in that they attack until they get what they want. Strange times we live in.

Ziti, I agree on all points. The Twitter reaction wasn't good. Not that it means much, but I think all of us are looking for more positive vibes around the university, and Twitter plays a big part in public perception. Perception may not be reality, but eventually it can have positive or negative effects on results. In this case, I believe it is affecting recruiting. It probably won't affect it for too long, but the sooner it's sunshine and rainbows (even on Twitter) the better.

Even more, I am proud of this state and our state university and am done with the bad press and perception. We are above all this and we know it. It's time for the damn Volunteers of Tennessee to prove the haters wrong and make them see who we really are, which is definitely not some made up smear campaign based on selfish gains.

I will watch it.

I already scanned twitter and see the scrutiny coming from media. Social media mobs will probably be all over this.

It was an unprecedented and risky move.

I will watch it though, you guys are right. I need to see it first but I'm already seeing how the media is treating it which is what I'm referring to anyway.

I don't care what the national media says. I was proud of my university today. I believe they did the right thing by doing this. That's all you can ask for.

Gotta admit with how Volnation has been the past few weeks I expected this to turn into a 9-page bashing argument.

Clay Travis all over this. Her house is in foreclosure and she contacted King. She admits it on the air. Audio hasn't been released of her admitting this yet. What has been released is a glimpse of a psychotic woman who needs help. Same radio station got a weird interview. Believe me it's NSFW or small ears. She wants Peyton to admit he's gay. And the world keeps giving her credibility. Here's a link to Travis Twitter where you can hear this crazy person.

It's like a secular Taliban. Rewriting history and tearing down any nonconforming opinion with an air of unassailable self-righteousness. I find it frightening and not conducive to a truly free, democratic society. We need to be learning how to coexist with people we fundamentally disagree with, not how to marginalize and silence them.

Sorry for the rant.

They have recently switched gears and fully admit that what they are doing isn't "fair" but is instead payback for decades/centuries/millennia of oppression created by rich white elites. What's really funny is that the vast majority of SJWs are self-hating white people.

I have a feeling Peytons lawsuit will be bigger than just King and the trainer. If he does pursue a lawsuit, the current title IX lawsuit is severely damaged to the public view. Including Manning might be their downfall, which would be ironic

She is insane just by her laugh. I knew all along she is who contacted King. His story about Facebook and some random person sending it to him was obvious BS. Random people don't just have a 74 page court document with redacted comments not redacted

This lady is doing anything she can do to get Manning to say something derogatory about her. She is crazy.

It's amazing that there are SJW, PCBros and Feminazis that are hitching on to her wagon.

The world is learning to navigate it's instant interconnectedness.

Social media, smart phones, virtual and false anonymity, faux offense, perceived slights, communication sans body language and interpersonal feedback--it's all in its infancy, and the world is struggling to find a balance.

Adults and children alike don't have a firm grasp on how this all should work. It's no surprise we aren't very good at it yet.

Of said document he said "it has not been released publicly"

Gee, I wonder where you got it, white boy

Karen Weekly has a law degree and practiced in Seattle for a while. When Ralph was hired to be the softball coach at UTC, she came with him and taught some business law courses. I had her for a legal environment of business course in 1996-1997 and she was always very nice and fair. After having some success at UTC, they both left for UT.
