another article smearing Peyton

No I know what I think, and I know what I've researched. Do you know the definition of irony? Real question. The story is 20 yrs old, nonetheless, it still happened and has been reported by many others besides Shaun King. I suspect that he's presenting the story now as click bait, and it is working cause that's all they have been talking about on Fox Sports Radio this AM as I have been working.

Oh look here's a story from 2014 about Peyton's assault:

Peyton Manning is Lucky Social Media Wasn’t Around in 1996 When He Allegedly Sat on a Female Trainer’s Face | The Big Lead

Oh look here's one from 2003:

USATODAY.com - Trainer has backers in suit against Mannings

Wow, this one is from 1997:

ERROR: The requested URL could not be retrieved

Wow, another one from 2003:

Lawsuit settled; terms confidential

Try again homie.

Researched? You google searched some links.

"Derp. Check me out I know how google works, and just because someone writes an article it has to be true."

And you irony is telling others to stop being naive when you are currently exhibiting the same qualities. I don't have to try with you 'homie'. It's just that effortless.

Sure it is. It's naive to believe that just because he is the golden boy at UTK doesn't mean he wouldn't involve himself in something that was A.) criminal and B.) would be a huge deal in the social media age. That was the entire point of King's argument but that was hard to see with those orange colored glasses on I'm sure. All I had to do is google for 5 seconds to find other articles written on the same topic. I'm sure all of those articles were tabloids as well. Keep up.

I'm getting tired of reading about the now two decades old Jamie Whited incident. What he did (when he was 19) was certainly dumb but for this or any other writer to pretend that this story hasn't been beaten to death and heavily scrutinized over the years is disingenuous. The guy actually sounds like he thinks he is enlightening us to some new and startling revelation! If there was an orchestrated cover up, it's execution was the worst since Watergate. The first two items mentioned by people who don't like Peyton Manning will always be his postseason struggles and the March 1996 incident involving trainer Jamie Whited. Now that his team just won the Super Bowl, giving him his 2nd ring with a winning postseason record (14-13) as well as his 200th overall victory, that criticism has lost it's ammunition and the critics are down to just rehashing an old story and re-packaging it as news.

And for the record, even at its worse this is not anywhere close to 'rape' or 'sexual assualt'. So it remains a mystery to me as to why an event that occurred 20 years ago has anything to do with today. Just say you hate whitey 'mrorange' and move on. Funny how none of this mattered until he won a SB last week and a lot of people were looking for reasons to cry foul about race because Cam didn't get it done. Speaking of, should we talk about Cam being a cheater and a thief?

I think the truth, like everything else, lies somewhere in the middle. I definitely believe that Peyton committed a criminal action. But this cover-up situation that King alleges is more of a stretch for me.

So mooning a campus doctor is criminal? News to me.

King's point had nothing to do with 'Peyton Manning' in today's social media age. It had more to do with tearing down a well respected white athlete while lifting up a black athlete. Instead of reading one article and drawing a conclusion. Read several of his articles and become informed. And thanks for admitting that your 'research' consisted of 5 seconds. People should really listen to you and value your opinion

This is just bad journalism. Not even a very well written thesis. Honestly, this guy would have got a C at best on this.

This is one of the biggest problems in America today: people can't bring complaints or discuss serious topics anymore without race somehow being involved. If that's all you got, stop.

Translation: You've exposed my true intentions and you are making me feel uncomfortable. Got it. Maybe you should take 5 more seconds out of your day and go research a safe space.

Peyton did not moon her. You do not have all of the facts if that is seriously what you believe. And you pick and choose what you want to address. My "research" was to prove that there are plenty other that have reported this story. This has been really hard for you to keep up with, maybe that's why you implied that race was the issue that I have stated these things: you are using it as a cop-out cause you have nothing.

So is Al Sharpton. Some people like to throw that title in front of their name without giving much thought to what it means or the responsibilities that come with it.

Al Sharpton throws reverend in front of his name to avoid laws that may otherwise apply to him.

How do you know what happened? Where you there? Did you even read the articles you 'researched'? It's not been hard at all. Just another lie you have to tell yourself. My guess is your entire thought process is a lie.

And what am I picking and choosing? We are talking about one event and a guy who wrote about it with an obvious agenda. Maybe that's the problem, your limitations won't allow you to discuss 2 topics simultaneously. How about you stop transferring your own deficiencies off on others? Challenge yourself. Be better. Cam lost. Move on.

Just three things to keep in mind: (and I'm not arguing these points, they are FACTS)

1) Jamie Whited did not go to the police and file a police report.

2) Jamie Whited did continue to work for the UT athletic dept. through the 1997 football season (a year and 9 months after the incident - and a full two seasons while Manning was still on the team).

3) In the civil lawsuit Jamie Whited filed she also cited an incident where Gus Manning (obviously no relation to Peyton) had passed around ticket stubs with pictures of naked women on them. However, Jamie Whited never saw these tickets and had only heard about them 2nd hand.

It's a waste of time. Anybody who believes that a university will pay someone thousands of dollars for being mooned clearly lacks cognitive thinking skills.

You are completely right. Peyton gave her an undisclosed amount of $$ and an agreement to seal the case permanently from the public because he mooned her. Naïveté.

I mean sure because we all know people don't sue other people, businesses, or universities for little to no reason. And paying someone off always equals guilt as opposed to bad press right?

If you were Jamie Whited why would you also not do #1 and #2? Ask yourself that question.

Buddy system. Problem is what happens when someone else joins his side and is as completely clueless as he is. Again, do you have any proof that it was anymore than a 'mooning'? If not, stfu and move on.

If it really truly is no big deal since it happened 20 years ago then why not admit it? Why write a book and lie about it? I think that's what bothers some people. It has nothing to do with Manning's success. He is a guy, in the public's eye, that likes for everyone to believe he is classy, honest etc. So surely some can see why this is brought up.

Also, Jamie Whited had a nickname among the football team of "Bumper" because she was busty. She was well aware of this nickname and never discouraged it's use - she even laughed along with it. Phil Fulmer was also aware of her nickname. Jamie Whited had dated multiple members of the football team and had a loose reputation. Fulmer once joked to her while in the trainer's room that "You like big men don't you." That was a reference to the fact that she had dated some linemen - and of course, that Phil was a 'big man' himself. She wasn't taken seriously at all. I'm not condoning what Manning did at all but she was not respected among the football team or those who worked with her. This probably contributed to an environment where Peyton thought it was okay to treat her the way he did - again he was wrong and should have been smarter than that even at 19... I'm just saying that Jamie Whited was no doe eyed, little lost angel in a den of wolves. Her actions also suggest someone who was an opportunist.

After seeing what happened to Bill Cosby's confidential agreement, I wouldn't be surprised to see Manning's confidential agreement becoming "unsealed" in the future.

All I have to say is, go make your own opinions. Read up on eye witness accounts and other public information.

Just because Peyton was a Vol does not make him a saint. Don't be ignorant, check out the reports yourself and make your own conclusion.
