'17' TN ATH Tee Higgins (Clemson commit)

I'm really glad we have Dobbs so I'm not going to build a case against him.
I'll leave it at this - If you didn't see many under and overthrown passes, then yes, we apparently saw different games.

I saw the same games you did. I also saw balls behind WRs, and I saw deep balls with no air under them. Now I will say, I saw a lot of drops when balls hit WRs and TEs in the hands as well. And that has nothing to do with scheme.

Dillon Mitchell in 2016 class & Alex Bars in 2014 class. And even though he had only been on the job a few months, Butch Jones was UT's HC when UT lost Jalen Ramsey & Frank Herron in the 2013 class

I notice that when the subject of Sutton and JRM being success stories of Butch's first class, that many are quick to interject they were "Dooley commits". Why am I bringing this up? :wink2:

I've said before that Dobbs has to be more consistent. But the play calling at times is so predictable it's ridiculous. On top of that the play designs and areas they attack are predictable as well. I've watched the Bama game quite a few times now. On most third downs the DBs were jumping routes. Our best drive at the end of the game(IMO) we threw on 1st and 2nd down for chunk plays. The bomb to Malone versus Kentucky was on 1st down. Defenses can't lock in on our WRs on early downs. The running game will gut them if they do. Now versus Northwestern the PA on downs before third down resulted in huge plays to the TE(another position we don't feature enough). Then we have guys running routes that don't even use their skill sets. That lets the defense off the hook. IMO Use your plays and the players that are best suited to run the play. Doesn't make you predictable. IMO

Fair assessment. I still have reservations with the Debord hire.I think he would be a great position coach, but I don't know if you get the creativity from a guy noted for his conservative work at Michigan in the 90s. I think there is a combination of areas we can get better at to have a better passing attack, I just don't think it is all on the coaches. I think we have the same type of WRs as well. I'm hoping bringing in smaller, quicker guys opens up the offense too.

You descirbe my opinion to a T. I'm not a DeBord fan. Him visiting Clemson tells me he knows he's got to improve. Let's see if it takes.

He went to Clemson to study their passing game as soon as the season was over with. Our offense should have a similar style but with a much better running game. A more unpredictable style of play calling would make our running game flat out dominant. If you don't know if we are going use PA on early downs it makes LBs hesitate. If they don't hit our RBs in the backfield they are in trouble.

The running game has already opened up some passing lanes that have been ridiculous. Can't wait to see a little more execution and creativity.

No I'm saying the running game will get even better. When we started hitting the TEs versus Northwestern it blew the game open. The defense had to watch for the TE and when they looked up Hurd was on top of their safety. No one in the country wants Hurd hitting their safety in the mouth. Even the mighty Bama got tired of tackling #1 for 4 quarters.

So ready to beat Bama.

Bars was an absolute bust at Michigan.

To even list Ramsey and Herron was asinine........ If that's the case Butch lost Vonn Bell too....... Nothing he can do when he hasn't been recruiting the kids.

What does Bars even play? Because we landed in state players on both sides of the line that were better.

This reads too much like other things that have been posted here to be taken seriously. Sources always go unnamed. The bad news always involves an "offer" and the closer you get to NSD, so called package deals never seem to come to fruition.

The real development with Higgins will be how serious he is about playing basketball and the interest he has from the elite programs. Ohio St, Michigan St, Michigan would probably more attractive than either Tenn or Clemson.

Like I said earlier I'm just relaying what I'm told. My source is a top booster for Oak Ridge football and he's been spot on when it comes to things going on at Oak Ridge. So everyone can do with my info however the feel but whether it's pro Tennessee or anti Tennessee I'm gonna relay what Is said

About time. This kid is a top 10 player nationally. No idea why he hasn't been rated higher.

#1 receiver
5 star talent
Top 10 player nationally

Now that he's decommitted from us it's safe for the recruiting services to acknowledge he's elite. We'll get him back though. Perhaps this is just a ploy from Butch to improve our class ranking.

At which time, he will promptly drop out of the top 100.

:whistling:

Been saying this for awhile. Superstar potential.

And four in the top 30-ish, depending on what you think of Maleik Gray.

Might have to edit my post. ESPN has Smith ranked 5th right now. Could have 3 of the top 10 players in the country and exactly what you said.

State is loaded this year.

Tee Higgins, Jacoby Stevens, Trey Smith, Maleik Gray = top 30 nationally

Ty Chandler, Cordarrian Richardson = top 75 nationally

At least 6 blue chips instate next year. In what looks to be a great year nationally for talent as well.
