'16 AZ DE Jonathan Kongbo UT Signee 2/3/16

Why would his dad sign his LOI? Is this true GFW? Do parents have to sign the LOI? Good grief! What does his dad have against Tennessee? With defensive talent and one of the top DCs in the country!!!!!

Under 21 yes but this kid signs something different

He won't sign an nli

From the beginning this kid has been a kid I really haven't coveted

If we miss here there will be a lot of posters join me in the "we didn't want him anyway"
Talk because of how this is going down

No one is ever going to "join" you...and by "ever" I mean EVER. :)

I guess u didn't see that fourth or fifth star he had.....Fif

Kongbo could be great, but there IS lot of uncertainty with Juco's. Competition, strength and conditioning, coaching: In many cases Juco's are a long way from the SEC--it's a big step up. People were telling us Blair would be in the NFL after a year; we saw how that turned out. That said, it is a bit easier for a defensive player to make the transition than an offensive guy, IMO.

Of course young 18-21 years olds tell the truth more to themselves than adults WHEN there is a relationship in place.

IMO the relationships built with players in the recruiting process doesn't fall in that category. It's much more of a "want to say what they want to hear" relationship

The coaches have to get beyond that relationship but with this kid it seems everyone around him gets that "say what they want me say" talk

I see your point but have to disagree.
Your final statement definitely rings true. I think that's an observation many of us have shared. This process has to be tough on kids who might not come from parts of the country that worship football talent starting in the 6th grade. It must be pretty overwhelming.
I've had buyers remorse on more than one occasion because I didn't want to let the sales person down.

It turns out the sales lady didn't really want to go home with me. And I haven't used that timeshare once

Yeah the "didn't want him anyway" talk always cracks me up, but this is a prospect I legitimately don't think is a make or break guy. It's a gamble. If we get him, great, but if we don't, not the end of the world.

Now we do need D-linemen, but I'd rather get guys like Brown, but unfortunately that just ain't happening this go around.

What is VQ saying right now? Really hope he wasn't trolling players and coaches. I remember Derek Barnett posted he had a good talk with him- that was promising. Hoping the jokes on Ole Miss this time!

Where exactly is this news coming from?

I wouldn't put much stock in that. Not only have I not seen it anywhere, but Kongbo's father can't actually prevent him from signing to UT. Kongbo is legally old enough to make his own decision.

The Ole Miss smoke is concerning, especially with the murmurs that he has basically told every staff that he's coming, but I'm going to stick with GFW on this one until we hear otherwise.

Just assume no one has a damn clue.

Anything you see up until he signs is speculation.
