Also, to continue my previous post, VN can't forget posters lilesrt, Bassmanbruno, Zasnow, BigPapaVol, Dudleys87, CountVolcula, LittleDTO, TrueOrange, justingroves, mlsoft, Weezer, PAVol, TheMayja, GahLee, RoSmitty12, UTCVol, MikeDVol, etc. for their contributions during the late Fumer/Kiffin/Dooley era. Respect.

Holy cow, man!! Do you keep a running list? How in the world did you come up with all of those? I'm impressed.

How much better is it now.

All we wanted, and the only reason we (or I at least) started following recruiting at a deeper level was that we knew our team was bad, our roster was broken, and recruiting well was the only thing that would fix it. Back a few years ago we were stoked to get someone in the Top 250. Now Butch has us arguing over which Top 100 player we should take.

Times have changed for the better for sure. Time for us all to sit around a campfire and sing Kumbaya together. I bet OCI and ACVol would make a heck of a duo....

I wonder how many more years before I make flowd's list? I did lurk for a couple years and changed my name, so that prob doesn't help!

All of this! It's exactly why I don't follow recruiting worried anymore. Someone decommits...meh, Butch will land someone just as good or better. On top of that, I have very high confidence that he and the staff have a very very good chance to land anyone they are after, but I realize we won't win them all. It really is very fun to follow recruiting now.

What also makes it fun is seeing guys we recruited on other teams and how they developed. Also, the love/hate themes are fun. Who here didn't see Gabe Wright on the field and with gleeful, childish anticipation prayed that some offensive lineman would ear hole him into next week. Recruiting brought that into our lives.

I agree. Being elite level competitive again makes the excitement happen. We win a guy on a flip. The SEC rival takes one away. Then we watch the grudge match on the field. Good stuff.

Didn't know where else to post this, and I can't start a new thread on the FF since I don't have 100 posts so:

Being from Dalton, GA, I am ashamed to say I have never been to a game in Knoxville. I do think one of the neater traditions in college football is the Volunteer Navy. So question. If I am planning on coming to my first game in Knoxville next year and want to cruise up the T River in my boat to park for the game, how do you do it? Slip required? Parking pass of any kind? I've seen pictures of boats rafted up, but that's not for me. What if your raft partner leaves before you?

Any recommendations for spots or things to do associated with the Vol navy are appreciated. Thanks.

No slip required. There is one long pier that everyone ties to. Once it fills, everyone just ties to each other. Just launch your boat, raise your VOL flag and cruise up the river. You'd offially be a member of the V O L Navy.

Nice commentary there, butchna. Do you even have a job, dawg? I never post and you still manage to pop up everytime I have something to say. I think you have a crush 🙃

NB4 the silly, crotchety joke you'll make that you somehow think shames me.

Yeah I'm good financially...it's a Saturday and I don't work at McDonald's. :). Daughter got her drivers license this week, so my only fret is sweating out her driving the car I bought her this first weekend. So your badge of honor is you barely deign to post on here and when you do it's to crap on what we think's funny? And if we comment on that we're STALKING YOU? :eek:hmy: Nice force field you've built up...see you next year. :wavey:

My son turned 16 in December. We're not allowing him to get his license before he goes through driver's ed. That's happening in March. BP 180/120.

Katie got that done two years ago...lots of practice before she felt confident enough. I'm sure she'd have done fine, but I definitely wasn't pushing. Last little link to her childhood...now all she needs from me is insurance and access to her college fund.

Our school quit having it so we're having to go the private route. He and his grandad are totally restoring a 1966 Mustang for his first car. He's pumped.

Yep my dad had the car. My son had saved up for a car. He has a champagne taste on a tap water budget. But they are going ground up on it. I've thrown a little cash their way. Had it sand blasted. They are cutting out all the rust and welding the panels back in. Friend of mine building the engine. Should be like a new car when finished.

Edit:sorry to get off track here. Mods feel free to move to the off topic forum.
