Anyone own a Smith & Wesson SD40VE 40SW?

I'm in the market for a new firearm. Looking for a solid 40 caliber for home defense and possible conceal carry. I don't want something that has a complex safety system.

I also really like the last Ruger pistol I shot but it was only a 22. I have not tried a 40 caliber Ruger. Anyone have thoughts?

I also don't want to spend an arm and a leg on this. The Smith & Wesson SD40VE is a decent price.

Glock 22 Gen 4.

.40 has pretty snappy recoil. I'd go with a 9mm instead. Nothing wrong with that s&w, if that's what you want. However, there are much better options out there.

Okay guys I got a big question for you and I'll put some pictures below. I had a death in my family a few days ago and my great uncle left me a old gun. I know nothing about it and no one in the family knows much about it.

I did my best using Google and I think I got it down to being a Remington Rolling block #1 Rotary Extractor due to pictures I've looked at. I did take it to a gun store where I had it looked over but we couldn't make a full diagnosis.

It has no marking on the Barrel, Stock, Bands, Forearm. I have took it apart and found nothing. I was told it could be a .45-70 so I tried putting a brass casing in and It was to long so I cut it down just a little and it fit so I was thinking maybe a .45-60. I know that those guns had a pretty good list of calibers that they was made in.

I'm still going to take it to a smith, but I thought some of you guys might have seen/have one like it and have some info. Plus I like talking about guns with you guys.

I posted a few pages back, but the wife gave me a Ruger LC9s for Christmas. I prefer the 9mm for cc. The LC9s is heavier in the hand instead of the barrel and the new trigger is excellent. I was more accurate with it at the range. With JHP's it is all you need for both purposes. Hope you find what works for you.

If they want to sell a ton of revolvers, they should act like the Korean car companies, and do a remake of the Colt Python

Indeed. I was rather disappointed to say the least. All that hype for basically a ruger sp101.

But, kimber of course will slap a $900 price tag on it.

Been wanting a revolver for a while, found a Ruger Service Six in .357 for $400. Probably gonna head to get it later

Anyone know anything about the Sig Mosquito .22? Great deal on it at the LGS ($239) but I am reading some negative reviews on what ammo it will eat. Would like to buy as a plinker and to train my wife for her new 9mm. She has only shot a gun once.

Works great, you just have to use CCI Mini Mags. If you know that going in, you'll be happy with it.

If you want something less picky, I highly recommend a Ruger SR22.
