The Official 2nd Amendment Appreciation Thread

Thank you. I may go with the M&P 9mm compact instead then.

My reasoning for the .380 was it would be easy for my wife and I to share and just keep it in our car that we share for work. She is a nurse who works nights, and I am in sales and travel to sketchy places. Just a gun we both could use that we left in the vehicle. She can't carry into the hospital and most of my customers don't allow guns in their buildings.

Most people are going to tell you the same thing. Go to a local gun store with your wife. Both of you hold them and see what you're comfortable with. 9mm isn't going to be too much for your wife, or shouldn't be.

Good luck.

We've done that and she has a .38 revolver she likes. Just want to expand our portfolio I guess.

Okay, did some checking around and you're digging in the wrong place. Sears and Roebuck apparently contracted out those shotguns to different manufacturers and slapped Ted Williams' name on them:

Ted Williams Shotgun Forum

Which led me here:

Hoosier Gun Works : Online Catalog : Firearms Cross Reference

Closest I could come was one off your model number (841 instead of 840) which was manufactured by Boito, a Brazilian company. You may have better luck looking through the parts for that one instead of the Sears specifically.

Thanks alot!

Nothing, I mean NOTHING, will ever beat the extreme tactical operator Glock:

:eek:lol:

That's hilarious. I couldn't imagine doing something like that to my Glock. Who would buy that hacked up piece of junk? Sights are missing, poorly executed grip reduction, the V cut on the side of the grip is totally unnecessary (and ugly) and a terrible looking paint job. Plus the trigger guard removal is ugly and probably unsafe. Who knows what all modifications were made to the internal parts (it definitely has an aftermarket barrel and a new recoil spring/guide rod assembly). The paint job on the magazines is a real head scratcher.

I'm thinking about a Walther PPQ 9mm for my wife. Either that or a Glock 17. I'm a Glock guy and think they're pretty much perfect, but I've read the Walther is incredibly accurate and has an amazing trigger. Anyone have thoughts on which to go with other than have her see which one fits better in her hands?

By definition no platform is going to "fit" everyone but damned if those PPQ's don't seem ergonomic as hell to a whole lot of people and after handling one that includes me. Never actually fired one so can't comment on trigger personally.

The 17 is rather a benchmark in dead simple and reliable firearms but they don't suit everyone.

I'm a fan of Walther but the PPQ is just too big. For a lady, might want to try the PPS, CCP, or wait to see the new PPS that was posted above. I also like the PK380.

This is true, but I think the way the H&K P30 and VP9 have the adjustable grips, they've set the standard in "fit" for the vast majority of people that handle them.

The old pps was such a nice looking pistol. Not sure I like the redesign as much. Only thing I've always disliked is the single stack... But that's me being picky.

Yeah, I have the original PPS and I like it pretty well. It's accurate and reliable. I've probably put 500 rounds through it. I like they deleted the back strap deactivation feature. I don't think it's an issue, I've never even taken my back strap off the pistol. But, it is another piece of mind. I wish they would offer the other mag release as was on the original. Once you get used to this, it's very fast with your trigger finger to release the mag.

Single stack pistols have their place, like deep concealment. When I carry mine, I'll have the 6 round mag in place with the 8 round mag as a spare. I rarely carry it though. Usually just a quick trip to town. Most times I've got my glock 19 or 17A as primary and a glock 26 on my ankle. Mag compatiblity is a nice feature for me.

Indeed. The vp9 just melts into your hand and points very naturally. I'll give it very high praise and say it points almost as well as a High Power. That dang slide release and my grip was the deal breaker for me though. I absolutely loved it's performance.

I've went back and forth on getting a.380 as a back up ankle grabber. But I believe a slim single stack 9mm would work as well. Might give an excuse to get a pps.

PPQ fits almost as good as my HKP30 did but the trigger's are as far apart as imaginable. The DA on the HK was terrible and the SA was poor too.

My only complaint about the PPQ trigger is that it might be too light for me to be comfortable carrying. That said it is so good and the reset is amazing. I shoot very well with it since as soon as you think shoot it happens.

It's one of those guns I don't have use for but will keep just because it's such a pleasure to shoot.

I have the first gen and it has the Euro style mag release that I prefer.

A bump to get this thread back on the front page.

Took my browning high powers out the other day. Had a bit of trouble with one of the factory mags. Emptied the first mag and went to reload and slammed the new mag home, when suddenly the baseplate and the whole works came off and spilled spring, bullets, and follower onto the ground.

Check your mags guys.

If you have your finger on the trigger it better be to shoot. I put a lighter trigger on my Glock 17. Shoots like a dream. Those PPQ's have the best out of the box triggers on the market.

did you ****can it, or put it back together

Initially, I put it back together and had a few more goes with it. It worked fine. Then I thought better of it and placed a 147 grain Winchester ranger round through it, then placed it in the trash bin. Can't have it getting mixed in with the rest of my high power mags.

The mag and floor plate looked fine, I don't know what the deal was exactly.

Anyone own a Smith & Wesson SD40VE 40SW?

I'm in the market for a new firearm. Looking for a solid 40 caliber for home defense and possible conceal carry. I don't want something that has a complex safety system.

I also really like the last Ruger pistol I shot but it was only a 22. I have not tried a 40 caliber Ruger. Anyone have thoughts?

I also don't want to spend an arm and a leg on this. The Smith & Wesson SD40VE is a decent price.
