Using just college is a silly debate because there are boobs like Jason white, like tebow and like Vince young who are in those conversations.

I said Berry was better in college at his position than Peyton. That's the reason this is going on. Berry is the GOAT at safety in the SEC. Peyton is not the best college QB to play in the SEC.

Cam Newton as a passer was not on Peyton's level!!!!

Cam can do anything Peyton could do. Everyone thought he couldn't run pro style until he went off in the pros his first year. Cam is the best QB I've seen period in college. Talent isn't even close between the two. Cam is bigger, stronger, faster, bigger arm, and a playmaker in both areas. Cam wasn't inaccurate at Auburn. And is good in the pro system with 2-3rd rate WRs.

Cam Newton coming out of HS wasn't the passer Manning was and he was wasn't the passer out of college either.

Simple.

I would argue Berry is the best safety CFB has ever seen. Only other guys that come to mind are Ed Reed and Sean Taylor. Them boys were stone cold killas.

Who had a better first year in the pros?

Cam threw for more yards and 9 less picks. What now?????

It's simple that Newton was better coming out. Say what you want but the stats don't lie.

Berry was awesome but Ed Reed and Sean Taylor were both insane. As good as Reed was, and he was incredible, Sean Taylor was basically Ed Reed in a bigger and faster body. Dude was just everywhere.

He absolutely was not a better passer. Get real man.

Check the stats 1st year.........

Take the Orange shades off. Newton has done a lot of work with a serviceable at best WR group. Newton was in a spread system coming out. As soon as he was allowed to throw all over the field he looked right at home.

Newton has certainly done real well and greatly improved the Carolina offense.

I just don't think you can just flat out compare them based on stats alone. Just like comparing the greatest of all time. Football is a team sport. I have no idea how good/bad the Colts OL was compared to the Panthers. Peyton had one year with Faulk, while Newton had a two headed rushing attack with Williams and Stewart. So many variables that it is really difficult to compare them.

I'm sure I could find many QB's that had better rookie stats than Manning. Doesn't mean a single one was a better passer coming out.

Newton obviously is a gifted athlete and a bad OL wouldn't have near the effect it would have on a QB like PM.

It's going to be a very long time until Spring practice.

He said coming out Newton wasn't on Manning's level as a passer. Newton lit it up when everyone doubted him. 4,000+ with the Panthers first year. Peyton threw 28 picks year 1. I'm a huge Manning fan but Cam can do anything on the field Peyton can do and more. To say Peyton was more talented is just laughable. There hasn't been a more physically talented QB to hit the league than Newton. Hate him if you want he's the real deal. Give him good WRs and he'll go crazy. 😁😁😁😁

You said as a passer man. I thought Newton broke Peyton's rookie record at the time. To discredit him as a passer is crazy. He's been a good passer since he first hit the league(Game 1 to be specific). He hasn't had Wayne or Harrison either.

Completely different game. Defenses could play much more physical against WRs when Peyton came out and could lay out the QB. By the time Cam got there, the NFL had taken numerous steps to protect the passing game.
