I think it's pretty telling that the GOP went apocalyptic over Obamacare and now a bunch of people are supporting a guy who advocates going further along that path.

Trump has "vowed" to do plenty, without a game plan to do anything. Nothing. Zilch. Empty promises. Oh wait, I guess he vowed to not be a part of the debates if Meagan Kelly was a moderator, so he's keeping that vow. Let's move forward to next fall and imagine a debate betwixt the Donald and Hillary. I'm laughing already.

I don't think so. Trump is so used to being the man in charge, having the final say. I think he is proving a point to Fox and the GOP, they don't tell him what to do.

If you're on active orders, like a Guard or Reserve unit that gets activated, the military healthcare system (Tricare/Humana) is the one that takes care of you. Once you go off those active orders, you fall back under the VA for military related injuries and care.

Biggest thing if injured while on active duty is to make sure everything is documented and keep copies for yourself. And to ensure the VA is up to speed prior to being released from one to the other.

I think he'll get in there, but with an obvious twist of reasoning that works in his favor.

Like I said, his ego won't allow him to have Fox or Megyn Kelly get the better of him. They'll talk just enough crap about him being scared that he will recommit.

How is Fox News getting the better of him? He not being there is terrible for ratings and their bottom line $. He is doing a fundraiser for WWP. Of course everyone is going to watch that instead of Jeb! talk about Syria. Him not being there is all the media will talk about. He is definitely not doing it

He has the strongest ground game next to Cruz with over 1,000 precinct chairs, a concerted phone banking effort that will make over a million calls by Monday, and is trying to mobilize college students, who will actually be in school during the caucus for the first time in several cycles. Cruz and Paul know how the caucuses work, and anyone who has paid attention to Iowa knows that these supporters are the ones who show up and influence others.

Santorum, Huckabee, and Obama also utilized similar strategies and outperformed the polling.

He's terrified that he'll actually have to defend his positions this close to the caucus. And as usual, he has managed to make the media run around like headless chickens, so he'll go up in the polls again.

The guy is campaigning in Kentucky for his senate seat and in Iowa. At this point in 2012 in Iowa Santorum was at 16% and in 3rd place and Huckabee in 2008 had a 9 point lead at this time. Paul is in 5th place with 3.8%. He's to far back to make a move.

It's really quite a good strategy, he never has to answer questions of he's the one constantly directing the conversation. (e.g. Cruz birther)

Meanwhile the Trump supporters are still staring at the shiny object with zero substance, because it's different. But hey, he's Falwell's guy so he's got that going for him.

I'm not under the delusion that he'll win, but I think 4th is a distinct possbility and 3rd a very remote one. That won't be enough to save him this cycle, but it's good to have made those connections for future runs if the landscape ever changes.

At the very least I think Trump will underperform in Iowa, and this publicity stunt will not help.

Cruz made a huge mistake emphasizing the New York values stuff instead of Trump's very spotty political record. Now the candidates are starting to call attention to it (and I guarantee the moderators would ask about it on Thursday), but Trump won't be forced to answer those charges by skipping the debate. His answers would probably be rationalized to hell and back regardless - he already has Tea Party "conservatives" defending eminent domain and willfully ignoring his comments on healthcare.

He is playing everyone like a fiddle.
