Agreed on the DE need and that's why He is my least want of the remaining list. I see zero chance we aren't all in at this point on his recruitment unless his grades are worse than rumored

We need all 5 of those guys I listed. I'm not going to start naming kids I think we should part with to make room but there is no chance that we turn away anyone of those top 100 players we are in the mix for coming down the home stretch.

We need Kongbo badly. We are one injury away from being very pedestrian at defensive end.

a couple of guys would best be served to take a gray shirt. staying back a yr to develop might be a blow to the ego but it will be a huge advantage down the road.

Butch hasn't used a single greyshirt. The closest was Swafford, who decided to walk on fall semester instead of waiting for the spring.

'17 is gonna be a monster year for Tennessee recruiting. I'd like to keep every spot possible for that class.

That's what was reported. Those type of situations usually have a lot of hypothetical reasons given why the guy was cut loose. Usually nothing to support it. I believe Brown got into OU without issue and has been a great starting OT since.

That would hurt our numbers next year which is supposed to be a monster year. A marginal kid this year is a marginal kid next year.

Phillips and Taylor are the near future I'd guess at DE. since they are easy to forget because they haven't played much yet, it may be easier to recruit depth there now since we lose both starters next year.

So in other words - what fans view as depth and the future at defensive end is really an unknown at this point.

One of those guys played mostly inside and supposedly threatened to transfer while the other redshirted.

We have potential at defensive end but not much proven talent/production.

IMO the way I see it is if all five of those guys want to come then you've got to make room. I know that means screwing somebody over but the name of the game is to win and to win you need to best players.

Not everybody is going to be proven. You can't have 85 proven guys on your roster. We have a superstar DE, two very solid guys, elite young talent, and a DL coach everybody on here seems to believe in.

We are fine at DE no matter how this class finishes.

This may be crazy talk but I believe Kongbo may also be in the DT rotation. He's completely different than Taylor and he frees up Phillips to be more of a pure DE on those four DE packages.

Can never have enough OT, DT, DE, DB and you've got to have a QB that can play at all times.
