Fulmer writes response to Adams Article

I agree Fulmer should not have responded. Adams is just a reporter for a small media outlet.Who even reads his articles except the Knox County community. Wow! I agree with Fulmer, "Limited Perspective".

The problem is John Adams has been on radio shows around the south spewing this venom too. It's not just Knoxville. Not to mention stories like these get picked up quickly by the national media.

Now, on a serious note, I'll say Fulmer did make a mistake here. His response should have been immediately.

Now that I've had time to think about it: i don't like that he responded. I think what he said IN the response is right on, and we forget a coach's other duties.

However, responding, IMO, was a small sign of weakness. He shouldn't care what Adams thinks of him.
that was my initial reaction as well. but i say good for Phil. there are a good many of us that think one of his biggest issues is lack of emotion....that he never gets pissed off. well, at least we now know he can.

Good for him.

Adams is probably smiling because he got a response.
Thank you. While I consider Fulmer to be about as appealing as a skunk at a picnic, it's amazing how easy Adams has it. Take unrelated or tangential facts, use them to draw an innuendo that gores a sacred cow, then watch the unwashed masses froth at the mouth. The columns must just write themselves.

Definitely a sign of Fulmer's vulnerability.

Though, while he didn't have to explain himself, I felt he did a pretty poor job of doing so. Yeah, I get it, you want to tailor discipline to the individual. Show me that it's worked, in your tenure, at Tennessee?

You can't. That's why it's better to keep your mouth shut and just keep collecting the bick bucks. And don't let some third tier sports writer get you all worked up. You like what you do, you still have your job, you get paid a ridiculous amount of money.

Why do you care what he says?

It's amazing how much more effective a coach's approach to discipline appears when he has great players.

the NFL front office is strugglin with the idea about less stupid stuff happening as players have more to lose.

If you're speaking the truth, there shouldn't be much thought involved. Time is the ally of someone trying to create just the right spin.
You mean like A Rod's comments about being tested a dozen times? Speaking off the cuff and having to answer for it later? That kind of spin?

This is proof of hoe CPF succeeds, he is a great motivator and a great strategist (if only he would use .this strategy in a second half of a football game)

FULMER

any response should have been immediate. delayed response has a very vetted feel, a la the UN.

Had he been tested a dozen times, he would have had no problem. A Rod engaged in an age old oratorical practice: He lied. The truth never really requires answering many followup questions.

If you would know your facts and not rely on innuendo, you would know that he was making a statement to say not only had he been tested but that testing was moving in the right direction to clean up MLB. The number was just exaggerated (call it a lie if you prefer) to emphasize his point.

Back to my point, IMO, it's wiser to thoughtfully reply (if at all) than in an emotional manner.

You have your opinion, I have mine.:hi:

I know the relevant facts. He said he was tested a dozen times. He wasn't tested a dozen times. Thus, he's a liar.
