"Running up the score"

Mark Jones does a good job calling play by play bUT Rod Gilmore has always seemed out of place. Feels like he wants to display his Stanford education instead of just adding good color commentator stuff...JMO

It would be different to me if we had left the starters in there and were throwing it around or running trick plays, but come on. We called off the dogs with around 11 minutes or so left in the game. NW did the same with most of their starters. Let the 2nd/3rd string guys go out and make some plays they can be proud of in the end.

Backups need live action. To work them like they do only to have them hand off up the middle or take a knee for a quarter is a disservice to them. By the same token, if the trailing team is going to keep their foot on the gas, why is it wrong for the leading team to do the same? I heard Iowa fans boo a long TD pass by Stanford late in the game. Iowa hadn't shut their offense down so why should Stanford?

"Ole Musburger and palmer were talking about Iowa fans booing Stanford for scoring. They both said get over it and play football! Palmer said....I played for Steve Spurrier... Classic!"
---
Iowa has some of the cockiest fans in the country for some reason. It's pathetic they would be booing the other team for beating em up too badly. Have some pride..tip your cap and be ticked off at YOURSELVES for letting them do that to you.

I'm sorry but its not running up the score unless you're up by 50 and throwing with 2 mins left on an FCS school

I would say Ole Miss isrunning up the score on that last TD with Kelly still airing it out.

You can't realy run up the score with backups, if you can then oh well. Outback should have grabbed Michigan. Swapping teams made so much more sense.

If NW didn't want us to run up the score, perhaps they should have played some defense against our second string. It's freaking football.

I do not believe in calling off the dogs ,,,, ever. Sure pull starters for the reason of protecting them from injury but never stop trying to score or stop punishing your opposition regardless of who they are or the circumstance.

It earns a different kind of respect.

It was an absurd comment. Not like we had our first team in there and were throwing it. He said if they wanted experience they should be playing in meaningful snaps

If you are complaining about our backups running up the score on your starters, that is sad.

Rod Gilmore sounded like a moron. I liked what the other guy said about it.

I would rather listen to Gary Danielson call 5 CBS games as listen to Rod Gilmore call 1 and I can't stand Danielson

For ****'s sake, we lost four games this year in the fourth quarter!

I wasn't even thinking about second team reps, just insurance.

I think it was Bobby Bowden I heard years ago when asked about running up the score who said, "if they don't wanna lose that bad they need to get better".

To quote the late Woody Hayes after I believe a game against arch rival Michigan a reporter asked him why they went for two after a late unneeded touchdown. His reply "Because they wouldn't let me go for three"

Was it just me or does anyone else think that our second string QB (Dormady) is more talented than their number 1?

I believe Palmer responded saying he had no problem with it, and it is the defense's job to stop them from scoring.

Then one of them, don't know which one, said "You shouldn't play football if your afraid of getting your feelings hurt."

I actually laughed when I heard that.

And I do believe that ended that line of conversation.

After that how the hell did he do that, recover a fumbled snap and tightwalk the sideline run to score a TD?

It is just you.
