Dish isn't cheap. $130 per month for us

We have the 200 channel package, HD, three televisions, for $102 a month - no promotions. For the same, we were paying Time Warner considerably more, and it wasn't as good. If you're paying $130, you probably have more TVs than we do, or have added premium channels.

Update on Lisa:

She continues to battle fluid and her kidneys are not performing as they should. The Doctors have decided to put her on dialisys to try and pull some of the fluid from her body. Her only hope at this point appears to be a new heart. Your continued prayers are appreciated.

I need your help Volnation. I have a cousin that I grew up with more like a sister. Since a toddler, she's had heart issues that were congenital. She's battled through numerous open heart surgeries and has artificial valves throughout her heart. This heart has lasted her through 52 years. She's gotten about everything she can from this heart. She's been on the heart transplant list for some time but was at a low priority. She's been recently moved to the most urgent priority as her condition has deteriorated to critical. She's currently at the Cleveland clinic. She's gained twenty pounds in water weight over the last few days and the medications have been limited in their effectiveness.

She's a very faithful person and has never asked for prayers for healing but for God's will to take place. Please pray for Lisa and her adopted daughter and husband.

Prayers for your cousin for strength and healing and for your family as well.

Thanks to everyone for their prayers. She's taken a turn for the worse as her white blood count has risen indicating infection. She's has been temporarily removed from the transplant list. The doctors fear it is pneumonia. They are treating her with antibiotics. Please continue to pray not only for her but her family.

Just to update everyone on something non-important (as compared to matters of life and death), I switched to DirecTV. It was installed on Saturday and so far I'm really loving it.

The installation exceeded my expectations. Sto, I didn't have a chance to get by Lowe's, so I had prepared myself for the likelihood that I'd have to have him mount it to our deck. I was pleasantly surprised when he arrived that he had everything necessary to do the pole installation. Also, in our family room, there is a little closet with all the AV equipment and all the wires are run underneath the floor to where the TV is located. Unfortunately, there wasn't a wire that had been run that matched the inputs on the DirecTV receiver. Our installer called his supervisor, told him the specific connector/converter that he needed, and the supervisor drove about 70 miles (round trip) to get the connector at a Best Buy and bring it to our house. Obviously, I was very impressed.

As for the service, we really like it so far. I like the whole-home DVR, and that I can set parental controls and set a custom guide for each machine, or all machines. Between DirecTV and internet, we'll be paying a little less than $110 per month whereas we were paying Charter over $180 per month.

Again, I appreciate everyone's advice/comments/recommendations!

Chuckie - congrats. Anything that removes Charter from your life is a good thing IMO. It was U-verse for us.

Charter likes to call you two or three times daily to wear you down until you agree to bundle everything and get a landline.

This IS referred to as the "dead period".

In fact, if we "bump" into a relevant topic during these two weeks it is possibly an NCAA violation.

Haha.

Well since we're hurting for topics, here is a new one. Anyone ever had an Inguinal hernia? I'm afraid i might have one. But not sure if it's that or post-vasectomy issues (11 days post-vas now) . But it wasn't hurting like this til yesterday afternoon, after I had been outside lifting and maneuvering a heavy ladder to take down Christmas lights.

Not sure if I should sit around and see if it gets better or go to the doctor.

Wait 1 week...any obvious inguinal swelling or tenderness?

Tenderness, yes when I press. Only on the left side, right side none. Last night it would hurt for a few seconds when I went from sitting to standing. Then it would subside. Today I have noticed a little of that but nothing terrible but have been taking ibuprofen 800 mg.

As far as swelling (sorry if TMI everyone. Ha) but it's not really obvious visually but i can feel a bit of a difference on the left side.

You know the like button is used as an "agreeance" button very often. Doesn't mean the other posters like seeing this proposed scenario, it means they agree that scenario is likely to happen. Stop pulling the fan card BS; that's the most tiresome flame on here. Anyone who is more pessimistic than your crowd, is immediately labeled a troll or not a true fan. There's no measurement for fandom to say your's is stronger than mine, so give it a rest.

Thanks for the lecture... and agreeance is not a word by the way.

Agreeance*is a*word*that seems to be continually reinvented and recycled. The term first appeared in the 16th century and enjoyed its greatest popularity in the 18th and early to mid-19th centuries.
