Kamara has a tough decision. His stock will not climb much at all next year unless he steals a lot of carries from Hurd which is unlikely or Hurd gets hurt.

He said himself he has to decide if he should go now or wait another year and end up with the same grade.

I think he goes but thats just me. I really dont see how he can improve his position anymore because Hurd is going to get the bulk of the carries again because you know they will try and get him the all time rushing record.

There are many variables. Our offense could benefit from giving AK more carries and expanding plays that use him as a receiver. Hurd will still get more touches, but run-run-run with Hurd is too predictable against good teams. A lot of people think AK was underutilized this year, and that could change, if he stays. Or not. But ultimately, AK may be ready to move on to the next level.

I think he goes, too. Derek Henry and others in his RB class are going to get paid, and AK might think it's his time, too.

Given the recent trend of RBs drafted in later rounds, I would say that if Kamara got a 3rd round grade, he should heavily consider declaring. It's unlikely that he would improve on that much. Maybe sneak into 2nd round next year? I don't know the money difference but it can't be huge.

Even D. Henry is being projected by some to be a 2nd rounder after the season he's had. RBs just aren't the highly coveted players they once were - unless they're the rare talent such as AP or Gurley or maybe Fournette.

I agree but if Kamara comes back and shows he is electric returning and lines up at receiver that elevates his stock a round or two. He should come back but if he leaves then I hope he does well.

I'm one of those who think he was under utilized. I hope it doesn't come back to bite us, as in him leaving early.

I'm in the underutilized camp, as well. If AK comes back, I hope we shift to more of a Thunder and Lightning offense.

For the record, players inquiring about their NFL draft stock get 1st round, 2nd round, or neither. Any junior receiving a "neither" score is encouraged to return to school. This is to try and deter players from leaving early because they got a semi-optimistic draft grade like in previous years. It comes from k believe the 2014 draft when a record 105 underclassmen declared and almost 50 went undrafted.

I'd be surprised, being a rb especially, if Kamara gets anything besides a "neither" grade. Since only 4 rbs went in the first 2 rounds last year.

Other running back duos that improved their draft stock because they played on great teams:

Reggie Bush/Lendale White
Cadillac Williams/Ronnie Brown
Darren McFadden/Felix Jones/Peyton Hillis

That's just the RB position. Every year look at how many guys get drafted from great teams. Playing on a great team can improve your draft stock. Would be ignorant to deny that.
Lol their teams didn't do much to effect their draft status. Other than Hillis, all of these guys were incredible in college and got significantly more carries. Kamara really has no benefits in coming back if he continues to get 5-7 touches a game.

When the times comes, Kamara will make or break his stock at the pro days and combine.

Look at the putrid number of NFL running back's that have over 1000 yards this year. It is amazing how the run game has disappeared in the NFL. At least in the form of a feature back.

Man, how huge is it that Darrin Kirkland Jr. turned out to be a beast at MLB? We are set there for the next 2-3 years after getting horribly exploited when A.J. was out last season/early this season with Jumper.

He averaged 10 touches per game from scrimmage.

Lol at your lol. :) You can't know for sure what their teams did or didn't do for their draft status. How many RB's every year find some success in the league as an undrafted free agent? I bet if those guys had played on championship level teams they sure as heck wouldn't be undrafted.

Barely more than a month till NSD.

Got a feeling it's going to be a heckuva 5 weeks.

Going to be the most exciting recruiting finish (knock on wood) in a long time.

They wouldn't because they would actually be showcased

I can't wait for the Thursday after Signing Day

Maybe this thread will be back to normal

If the class is outside the top 10, it will be full of people proclaiming that we are on a downhill slide and that Butch can't recruit if he doesn't have a class full of legacies.

I wouldn't go that far... But it would be disappointing...

I think 2017 recruiting class would be the best barometer of CBJ recruiting ability. Some good instate talent, coming off a strong season and a few years relationships with said recruits.

Another top 5 class is in order for 2017. If we can keep a top 10 average over the past 4 seasons, we will be fine.
