Is Barnes too tough on his players?

:good!:
I went to UTK before the 20 hour rule. The Lady Vol BB players I knew had no life. They practiced very early every morning and practiced after class. I do not know if she used profanity, but she was tough as nails and could really stare down the players.
She got the most out of her players and the 20 hour rule hurt her.

And yes, she yelled at the players.

I really don't want to say it, because I don't want to believe it, but I think Tennessee is ricks retirement home. In a bad way. He came here just to end his career on his terms imo. I hope I'm wrong, but i haven't seen enough fire from him, to believe he really wants to win here. Maybe it's just where it's not conference time. Maybe once conference play starts he'll be more active. But so far,
The only thing he's gave me to be excited about are Parker and Williams. I highly doubt we get Bruno, and I highly doubt we get any top 20 player. I hope and pray I'm wrong, but that's how I see it. Next year could be a good year like I said, so next year is when I will have my final verdict.

I think the opposite. I think he came here to prove that he is not finished as a coach. We just need to understand, and I think most do, this is not a two year fix. I expect us to be good in year 3.

So again, make up your mind and stop being bipolar about it.

Dallas... Pray for people with cancer, people with AIDS, sick children, and families who go to bed hungry at night.

Don't pray for Rick Barnes to take his job seriously...

That's honestly my take on it. Ricks way of doing things is outdated, and that's going to hurt us bad, imo.

Or, his old school ways are gonna lead to a more mentally tough team that will end up winning more games than if they were coddled and never held responsible for mistakes they make on the court.

Apologize darling...i retracted my post! You are correct about Woodson!
The others were because of they felt they wouldnt fit the system !

The point is that every post player that CDT brought in is now gone. Why each one left wasn't that relevant to my comment. The three perimeter players that CDT brought in are quite the contrast... each is making a big contribution in CRB's first year.

He could have the same record here over the next 4 years and not much will be said thanks to lower expectations. It's why UT isn't serious about basketball. Big money for a younger coach who wants to prove something should've been the way to go.

No. Bruce Pearl was the way to go.

He's loading the wagon at Auburn and would have had us already contending for the SEC this year. If only our leadership was not too arrogant or cowardly to seize the moment when they had it nearly laid in their laps. JMO.

Wasn't Bruce already under contract with Auburn before Cuonzo had quit? Even so, Bruce lied... I can't find fault with UT's leadership taking a pass on him.

But on the other hand, Butch wouldn't have signed the Auburn contract if he knew he had a shot at replacing CCM.

I personally like coach Barnes. I like the effort he is getting out of his team. They are certainly not the most talented we've ever had in Knoxville but I see them improving every single game. Take Mostella, Baulkman and Alexander for instance. All three of them have improved noticeably since the season started. If we can get consistent play from them here on out, on top of what we pretty much know we're gonna get from Hubbs, Moore and Punter, then we may do better in SEC play than what most people think. Barnes had more success tournament wise at Texas than Tennessee has had in its programs entire history. I think we're very fortunate to have him as a coach and Texas may be wishing they had him back before its' all said and done. Go VOLS !!!!!

I'm looking forward to that game on Jan 2. Vols vs Pearl. This should be a good one.

They have the same record (6-5). so why worry? They aren't playing any better. I have faith in our guards. And big Trayvon Reed isn't there, I don't think. So we should be good to go.

It's an away game and they are going to be extremely focused to get the win for Bruce. It's also a revenge game since CDT beat Auburn in Knoxville last season. Also, I think that it's a CBS game so the hype will be on a different level.
