I understand about half your posts and about a third of the smilies you use so I may just not have a grasp on what you're trying to say here but if you're trying to equate what Bo Ryan is doing to what SS did you are off base IMO.

That said, I don't have a big problem with the way spurrier stepped down. We don't know what went on behind the scenes and it was evident that he had seen his better days at USCe.

Spurrier went out like a wimp. There's no indication so far it was anything more than that.

I don't feel righteously indignant anymore than he felt righteously entitled to prod other teams and coaches.

Other than to say I hope it's not for health reasons, quitting on a team in the middle of the season is pretty crappy. Can it be more than that? I suppose, but they don't let on, do they? Coaches talk all the time about finishing the job and taking the fight to the other guy. Those words ring pretty hollow.

Ryan's situation doesn't bother me enough to care other than to say I hope his health is good.

Rounded bases and headed home! Two salty dogs, great at what they did...knew when to say when. One came off a championship game season...the other quite different. Otherwise?...same situation.

Oh really, I didn't notice. Maybe if you had done a better job doctoring it up I'd see it :)

Alrighty then young feller...have a merciful Merry Christmas!

(Btw, just notified the Crowder5 that you are in fact EZ. BruinVol just became your academic advisor. LebVol is now in charge of your payment options for the remainder of your college career) :salute:

So with Johnson, Henderson and George signed, can anyone update on how many years of eligibility each has left, and when they are expected on campus? Would be nice to get them here in time to watch bowl practices, etc.

I'm pretty sure they can even practice during bowl prep. I remember Bray did that.

As I understand it-

Jeff George will be a RS Junior (2 to play 2)
Alexis Johnson will be a true Junior (3 to play 2)
DJ Henderson will be a true Junior (3 to play 2)

FTR, Kongbo would be a RS Sophomore (3 to play 3)

100% agree. Still don't get the 'if you are a head coach you are a slave to your team/program' attitude. Stuff doesn't happen in a vacuum. Coaches and AD's have regular meetings and discussions on potential retirements. They are human beings, not machines. If a player quits playing due to a lack of desire, illness or even an attempt to reorder his life, oh well, bye. But if an older coach does it, he's evil and labeled a quitter. Hogwash.

Agreed. Spurrier knew his age was dragging the team down. Rumors were he couldn't even stay awake in the film room. He did what was best for the school, for the team, for himself, for everyone involved. All these people who have never had the elite discipline it takes to be successful at that level criticize him for admitting that his body and mind couldn't take it anymore.

I'm not sure I saw anyone say he was evil, but quitting in the middle of a season is reason for criticism--health reasons aside. I'm not sure why that's controversial.

Besides, this is Spurrier. He took pot shots for any reason at all. He deserves it (in moderation).
