Marshall said his offer was pulled so it's safe to assume it was to make room for a player the coaches like better. Okonya may have has his offer pulled as well but he didn't specify.

I take it as a good sign for recruiting.

Thanks. That's what I hoped.

good for him... just started making alot more money

does antbody remember what happened to lljeller? he changed his username right? whats he going by now?

Maybe sometimes SEC assts make more than lower level HCs. This is a career path move more than money move. Interested to see how he does.
nah, he'll be making more... and i never stated he was doing it for the money, i'm sure he's just ambitious.. special teams to head coach is like going from the mail room to the boardroom

Why u no take cza

yuck. I would've paid EKU to take Azzani.

Elder was the one we needed to hold onto. Now this opens the door for no offensive staff changes except bringing in a QB coach. And unless we get a good one, I doubt we see much progress in the passing game.

The fact that no teams are actually after Azzani is telling, IMO.

Jeez that's a big jump..even to a small school. Has Elder ever even been a coordinator? I wish him well, but hope he didn't bite off more than he can cgee.

Butch Jones officially has a coaching tree now.

Maybe in 20 years the SEC will be full of Butch Jones disciples.

looks like the last ecu coach was paid around 238k including base plus bonuses.
elder makes 225k i think, so definitely not for the money

funny, western ky pays 400k, is it because they are division 1? i thought eku was going to the big leagues or was trying to

Going from special teams/TE coach to head coach is a huge promotion, even if they pay isn't much higher.

Do well at EKU and you can be head coach at an FBS school within 3 years making triple that.

From a bio on Elder. Apparently he's done a lot of everything.

he has coached all three phases of the game – offense, defense and special teams. He might have the most diverse coaching experience on the staff.

Impressive to make it to HC position so quickly. It takes some decades of coaching and he coaches 9 yrs and never as a coordinator and get a HC gig. I wonder if he takes any grad assts or lower staff guys with him. Interested to see what his staff looks like.

Big difference between being GM and basically a supervisor. He has never even been a assistant manager. But whatever...good for him.
