And I get the whole using examples of LB's in the league that are JRM's size. However, I can name 10 to your 2 that are his size at strong safety and excel.

I think if he played safety he'd be a slow safety having to play above himself. At linebacker he's still not the fastest but it's not a disadvantage with his intensity and instincts.

The coaches are good at special teams but the athletes surrounding the returners are making a difference as well.

Remember last year when Cam Sutton spent the first 10 games calling a fair catch every punt? The blockers this year are better athletes so he's gotten a lot more opportunities.

Similar on the kick return game. Evan Berry is surrounded by a lot of good athletes when returning kickoffs. CP wasn't.

Marshall said his offer was pulled so it's safe to assume it was to make room for a player the coaches like better. Okonya may have has his offer pulled as well but he didn't specify.

I take it as a good sign for recruiting.

Yes they will, Abernathy will as well. I tabbed Gaulden as a top notch CB coming out. Had 5 star CB written all over him when he came out(for you post watchers go check his thread 😁😁😁😁). Foreman taking a step forward this year helps a lot as well.

I see the talk about the return game, and my brother and I had this conversation during the Vandy game even before Sutton returned the punt. Our guys are good at getting up field. A good returner usually doesn't try to go east and west. If you make one cut to beat a defender and head straight up field, then the lanes will open and you don't give other defenders time to adjust. I think our guys are taught this because they do it quite well.

That's why I think Berry is a better return man than CP in college. CP danced enough on a about 3 returns that should've been housed. Our returners now don't try to shake a kicker they just simply out run the dude. CP would try to cut it back for the highlight play.

I think I would take Berry as well. He's so consistently good every time he touches the ball. One of the best I've ever seen at just getting up field and making a positive difference no matter who is trying to tackle him.

CP was dirty though. Totally different kind of player.

Berry is an animal too- he probably leads the nation in yards after contact on kick returns. It seems like he's pushed a pile of people of an extra 4 or 5 yards multiple times this year.

CP seemed to avoid contact. Berry seems to relish it (when necessary).
