Northwestern and what they are saying about the Vols

I don't understand why people think so negatively about fans never attending the college they're fans of. It's a childish jest that takes no consideration of real life events such as said college not having the major or just being too expensive. It irks me when people use it.

It's an inferiority complex based on the knowledge that their school is too lame to attract fans outside of the alumni.

Ummmm yeah. My comment is directed towards the people trolling their board. I honestly don't get why people are getting so offended and wanting to act like a baby about it. It's one thing if they're coming here and saying things but they're not so what else do you expect from a fan board that isn't orange? I can guarantee we don't speak sunshine and rainbows about others teams on here.

Exactly how many people are trolling their board? RDU is the only poster here that has admitted to actually signing up.

F NU, their fans and their board.

I haven't posted anything yet. However, I did like a Post where an Iowa fan wished NW fans good luck against us and a Vol responded by asking if they had figured that whole forward pass on a kick return thing yet? Along with the corresponding gif. Kudos to whoever did that. 👌

I registered on the Northwestern board. I typically do with our bowl opponents. I'll be respectful, but I will not take their condescending crap about the South and Tennessee in general.

I don't go to other team's boards. If they want to visit here that's fine, but I have no desire to visit their boards.

I feel like a few of you are the type that goes over to a friend's house for a dinner party and begins to argue that your momma's cooking is far superior. Well....it very well may be but that doesn't mean you should spew such words, especially in their house as a guest.

Now substitute momma's cooking for football and the location of said dinner party for Northwestern's football forum and we have a pretty good analogy going on here. Feel free to appreciate the effort I took to express my disappointment.

Bonus analogy content: You can discuss what goes into said hypothetical dinner. Just remember there's a fine line between discussing and arguing. That one is complimentary from my momma.
Bet you agree with the NW posting on that board. I don't appreciate your effort to express your disappointment, it's garbage.

I live up here so we have to beat them. Most people from the Chicago area either aren't into college sports or are Notre Dame fans. Northwestern's fanbase is a relatively new thing as they weren't that good until Fitz took over. Last time we played them was in the Citrus Bowl in the 90s if I recall.

Either way, we gun' whoop dey azz.

lived there 3 years, and watch you said about casual fans is a fact, atleast most fans I meet had grad degrees from Northwestern, so their allegiance was primarily at their undergrad school

Yeah, pretty childish to go into their house and act like an ass.

Remember in September when a dozen or so Oklahoma trolls flooded into VolNation? And how we didn't think much of their childish idiocy? Luckily, they mostly left after 48-72 hours, and (mostly) decent Oklahoma fans remained with whom we had some pretty good conversations.

Why on earth would we want to be the same kinds of jackasses to others?

One thing I learned over on their site today: they have a LOT less members of their board than we do on ours. So a dozen folks showing up, contributing two, three posts each in rapid succession, has gotta seem overwhelming and hostile to them.

*shrug* I just agree with Voldrum. When you walk into someone else's house, you take the time to figure out how things work there, and find a way to fit in without being rude or disruptive. Clearly, a handful of Vols fans didn't do that today. It's no surprise they're firing back. Bad on the Vols who went over guns blazing, not the NU guys for responding.

NORTHWESTERN STATS IN THEIR 2 LOSSES:
MICHIGAN GAME LOSS..38-0.
MICHIGAN RUSHING: 46 FOR 201 YDS. !!!
96 YD KICKOFF RETURN
NORTHWESTERN RUSHING: 25 FOR 38 YDS.
PASSING: 13/27 106 YDS..

IOWA LOSS: 40-10.
IOWA RUSHING: 51 FOR 294 YDS. !!!
NORTHWESTERN: 26 FOR 51 YDS.

SPEEDS KILLS..LOOKS LIKE IOWA FROM LAST YEAR...FAST SEC TEAM. SLOW BIG TEN TEAM.
SHOULD BE FUN TO WATCH (IF YOU ARE A Tennessee FAN)..

I agree, I think our team speed is going to be too much for them. And I don't just mean the foot speed of our backs or our defense flying to the ball. I think our offensive tempo is going to be like nothing they have seen before. I saw some comments where even some Alabama players were saying UT plays super fast and is really hard to defend. I do not think NU has the athletes across the defense to withstand that tempo. If we can sustain some drives early and deliver some body blows, look for Debord to pound them with Hurd in the 4th quarter. (And let's not call that "sitting on a lead" or "going into a shell" when it happens -- it is exactly the right game strategy against a team whose academic standards mean they simply can't recruit top tier talent at every position.)
