To Protect and to Serve II

Tim just can't bring himself to admit that the strategies he supported and applied during the majority of his career were a complete and utter failure. Not only were they a failure, things like civil asset forfeiture stood directly opposed to what he was sworn to stand for. In that sense, I understand his denial. To work your entire life trying to accomplish something and have everyone tell you it was wrong and that it didn't work- of course he's going to circle the wagons and defend his job and his people. Perhaps a bigger man would swallow his pride admit to their mistakes and come around to the truth, but I honestly think most in any occupation would be doing the same thing Tim is here. That's just human nature.

Now I know how Nick Saban feels.

And the sheep continue to bahhhh when their feewings get hurt.

We get it, Tim. You don't give a damn about the rights of an individual. You don't give a damn about freedom. You don't even give a damn about doing your job well, because why actually prove something in the court of law when you can just steal people's **** and force THEM to go to court?

For a self proclaimed conservative, that's really an embarrassing position to take.

“We don’t have to prove that the person is guilty. It’s that the money is presumed to be guilty.”

Straight from the DEA.

Why do you insist on writing my biography (unofficial)? Just because you type it-it doesnt make it correct. Ive spent more time, in one shift, protecting peoples rights, than most on here. Go to law school and do something about your perceived miscarriages. Law School is fun and I think you've got the fortitude to make a difference. Srsly

And end up like LG?

I'll pass. :whistling:

Is it good enough for multimillion dollar lawsuits? Cause, ya know thats civil also, right?

On a humbug, the police can take your cash and property on the most flaccid of charges and be held to the lowest possible legal bar in civil court to prove their case.

Like taking candy from a baby...

A lot of them are charged. Some are not. Some do not claim knowledge of the money and abandon it. So your outrage is much about nothing. And all that money pays for more guns, training, and tactical gear.
The problem is the departments have too much incentive to do civil forfeiture. Unlike other parts of the job, there is a direct benefit just like you state. Also, local governments have reduced department budgets because they see the forfeiture as revenue, so now they are relying on it to meet operational expenses. So now they have a lot of incentive to seize assets on the slightest connection to a crime. We should absolutely seize any and all assets gained through criminal activities, but only after due process and those assets should go into the general funds or a victims fund.

Perhaps some will gain some use of this.

What is the State? — Dan Sanchez

The choice is yours: The Highwayman or The State?

“The highwayman takes solely upon himself the responsibility, danger, and crime of his own act. He does not pretend that he has any rightful claim to your money, or that he intends to use it for your own benefit. He does not pretend to be anything but a robber. He has not acquired impudence enough to profess to be merely a ‘protector,’ and that he takes men’s money against their will, merely to enable him to ‘protect’ those infatuated travellers, who feel perfectly able to protect themselves, or do not appreciate his peculiar system of protection. He is too sensible a man to make such professions as these. Furthermore, having taken your money, he leaves you, as you wish him to do. He does not persist in following you on the road, against your will; assuming to be your rightful ‘sovereign,’ on account of the ‘protection’ he affords you. He does not keep ‘protecting’ you, by commanding you to bow down and serve him; by requiring you to do this, and forbidding you to do that; by robbing you of more money as often as he finds it for his interest or pleasure to do so; and by branding you as a rebel, a traitor, and an enemy to your country, and shooting you down without mercy, if you dispute his authority, or resist his demands. He is too much of a gentleman to be guilty of such impostures, and insults, and villanies as these. In short, he does not, in addition to robbing you, attempt to make you either his dupe or his slave.”

Lulz.... Ras what is this? What was happening before the video started? What happened after it stopped? Why did you post this ignorant mess?

So you have no problem with an officer putting a gun to a civilians head for simply not obeying his commands?

What difference does it make what happened before or afterwards?

Its complete nonsense, Tim, and you should know better. Catch and convict people for real crimes and stop using shortcuts that bulldoze rights.

Real crimes? I assumed the US code Title 18 were the rules we operated from. Change the rules if you dont like them. I personally do. There are similar Civil codes that exist and again, if you dont like them, talk to your congressman.
