Rewatching the game vs UGA this morning. Mosely was absolutely toasted on the bomb to Reggie Davis.

The weight he added in the off season hurt his speed IMO.

Also, watching this game against UGA, the two players that stand out to me on their D are Rico McGraw and Davin Bellamy. Two guys that we recruited. McGraw was an instate player and we were close with Bellamy IIRC.

Winning a recruiting battle or two can make all the difference. I'm so glad that Butch is landing so many players. We are so close. Sometimes I think we are just a player or two away from being a championship caliber team.

We sort of share an unpopular opinion. I've never thought Malzahn was as great as everyone does. Clearly he has some ability / knack for offense and play calling... but I've been saying all along that his first season was a fluke. He got lucky, caught lightening in a bottle, won 2-3 games that were total luck (the UGA hail mary pass... the kick 6...), and then totally blew the national championship that he was lucky to be in in the first place.

I don't think he's a head coach. I'm not even 100% sold on his sustainability as an OC... but I think that's his spot. Not HC.

Time will tell and maybe proves me wrong, but I just don't think he's that great.

Yeah, I'm not sure he is. We'll see.

I agree he had a fluke first year. To me, that's why you can't say a coach must win X number of games or else. There's almost always 2 or 3 games in a given season that come down to single call or play. The coach needs to recruit great players and put them in a position to win week in and week out, but can't always be praised or blamed based on the fluke plays.

Everything about our season would be much different if Sutton wasn't briefly injured and our DBs weren't misaligned on that 4th and 13 in Florida.. or if Medley's kick hadn't missed by inches. Say what you will about "going for 2," "conservative second half play calling," etc. but we were in a position to win that game, and it came down to players making plays. (Not fully letting CBJ off the hook - he should have piled on Florida and Oklahoma when we got ahead... but a single play would have made all the difference in the perception of our season and of CBJ amongst our fanbase).

We are gonna have to find another tackle. I really hope Richmond gets ready.

We really really need Cam to come back. Personally my hope is that Cam comes back and someone overtakes EM as the corner opposite of Cam.

The safety position will be one to watch as well. (Another reason we need Cam to stay to strengthen our secondary)

EM has already been overtaken

Agreed on safely

My bad guys. My point still remains. We need Cam back. Cam and Martin are a much better duo than EM and Martin.

Agreed

Safety is a worry for me

Let's see what happens there. I'm not sure who you have in competition for that position. From memory.... You've got TK, Berry and possibly Warrior. Jennings could move over there as well. (I predict he does after signing day)

Don't sleep on Griffin.

Citrus bowl thread in ff

Surprised it didn't get more attention

If he is who he says he is then it's huge huge news

If we get either the Citrus or Outback against a ranked Big 10 team, I'll be ecstatic!! I'm ready for our boys to get another shot on the big stage, and show everyone in the college football world that we will be a team to be feared and reckoned with next year!! GO VOLS!!! GO LADY VOLS!!!

We are a championship caliber team right now, IMO...maybe not at the first of the season, as we had to learn how to win as a youthful team. I think the coaches needed to learn some, too. But now at the end of the season, I fully believe we are. We will add a few more key pieces in this class, and if we can keep Cam and JRM for next year, we will be ready to make a run to the playoffs.

The depth wasn't there this year. I'm not sure it will be next year either.

There's just not enough quality juniors and seniors on this 2015 squad.

People scoffed at Jones making the "it takes 6-7 years to build a SEC roster" remark but there's more than just a little truth to it. Especially when you are building it from scratch like he has done. That statement wouldn't hold any water for a program on solid footing but for inheriting what he did in 2012 I think it's valid.

I think his defensive prowess is a bit overrated. The defense was not good his last year at Texas. This year at Auburn was not good. His defense at UF was at its best when Quinn was DC. And given Saban's rep, how much of the defense at LSU was actually him? I'm not saying he's terrible or anything, it's just that for most of his career, he hasn't even been the best defensive coach on the staff.

His defenses at Auburn under Tubs were nasty though
