Muschamp has potential there, if given the time, and he gets a solid OC.

His undoing at FL was:

Early success, raising expectations
Terrible offense
Catastrophic injuries

He can recruit and he knows defense. Don't be fooled by the madman exterior

I think his defensive prowess is a bit overrated. The defense was not good his last year at Texas. This year at Auburn was not good. His defense at UF was at its best when Quinn was DC. And given Saban's rep, how much of the defense at LSU was actually him? I'm not saying he's terrible or anything, it's just that for most of his career, he hasn't even been the best defensive coach on the staff.

More importantly he had an assload of talent at UF. Some of the best in the nation. USC NSM

Just me I'm sure..but..I would prefer to have a happy Philips, Taylor and Kongbo for 3-4 years than CM for 1. Him coming back next year would jam up the logpile. Somebody would get pissed and leave. That is not even accounting for Vereen.

89th with talent-laden Auburn squad?

Arky radio hosts today were saying Muschamp didn't have the players to do well at auburn, that he's the victim of lackluster recruiting before he got there. Someone, someone pays these guys money.

Auburn is a weird deal this season.

I know, there are holes in my argument, but time will tell. He's going to need 3-4 seasons to get anything going. If he gets that, I think he may do ok for himself. JMO

I'm not a talent evaluator but when I watched Auburn games this year, I wasn't that impressed. They looked a little like Tennessee in the 2010 - 2013 era to me. A few stud athletes but something was missing. I know they've had some good recruiting classes but I haven't been surprised to hear some post mortems on their season that they have work to do recruiting wise.

Muschamp must see it. The rats are fleeing the sinking ship. I think Malzahn is done after next year.

We sort of share an unpopular opinion. I've never thought Malzahn was as great as everyone does. Clearly he has some ability / knack for offense and play calling... but I've been saying all along that his first season was a fluke. He got lucky, caught lightening in a bottle, won 2-3 games that were total luck (the UGA hail mary pass... the kick 6...), and then totally blew the national championship that he was lucky to be in in the first place.

I don't think he's a head coach. I'm not even 100% sold on his sustainability as an OC... but I think that's his spot. Not HC.

Time will tell and maybe proves me wrong, but I just don't think he's that great.

I hear you

It's just a world that doesn't allow for things like a we saw on the video anymore. Administrators are darn scared of the liberal outcry they almost always react to such actions with dismissals

I watched the game. He was pissed about a bad play. Nobody on the GPB broadcast made a big deal about it. They were laughing about it with him during his half time interview. His head was bleeding because he hit the screw on the helmet.

I highly doubt this turns into any sort of disciplinary action. This is just ESPN being ESPN. I've been done with them long ago. They care more about off the field/court than they do on... It's half sports, half TMZ with those idiots

Agree completely about ESPN. I would love to see them dethroned as the worldwide leader in sports.

NBA Gametime is probably my favorite sports show because it's all sports and no tmz.

What's funny is that FS1 has a new partnership with TMZ, so they are literally half sports and half TMZ.

Really? That's sad. I was hoping they wouldn't go that route. Sports shows have almost all become a compete turn off to me.

I essentially get all of my news on Twitter. I find writers/reporters that I like and decide to follow. There's really no need for sports "news" shows anymore because information is so accessible. The only reason to turn on either ESPN/FS1 is for commentary or entertainment and there isn't much talent in that regard at either station unless they are carrying an actual game.

Stay on topic guys. Don't talk about guns or Christmas. Don't want make the liberals uncomfortable in the safe space away from the politics forum.
I tried to post in a very neutral way that my vol family should learn to protect themselves , and I guess I offended someone.

So on that note, maggit coming back just adds depth. His leadership wouldn't hurt, but it's likely he would be banged up again.

This is the poster that claims to have been the citrus bowl rep that attended the tenn Vandy game

Ealier in the week he posted he had no idea about our chances with the citrus bowl

This was just posted tonight

Very intersting

Wow! What thread is this in, Bruin?

The talent at USCe isn't going to be any better than what he had to work with at AU. He may get something going but if he couldn't do it at UF I highly doubt he has success at USCe. JMO. TIFWIW. BBQ. DOG FARTS. GO LADY VOLS!

Or...you know...we have a RF Off Topic thread that you can whine about all your woes in.

In my somewhat informed opinion, Maggitt's not coming back. He absolutely loves UT and Knoxville and he has been very smart in parlaying that, along with hard work, into a good career opportunity for him (in case professional football isn't an option). He's ready to start that part of his life.

He worked with a good friend of mine for his internship last year. Great kid and representative for the university.

Yeah I don't really watch any sportscenter type shows but I would like one that actually showed sports.

I get almost all of my sport news from Twitter but I don't follow any national guys really. Too much crap I don't care about. I would like to see game highlights without having to hear about whatever the controversial issue of the week is at the time.

I mentioned earlier I'm a fan of the NBA gametime show on the NBA channel. They actually show and talk about sports. It's rare these days.

I will say ESPN does well with baseball coverage....

I get sick of hearing about people's sexual orientation on a sports network. When I was a kid Sportcenter was all you needed. A 30 minute show all about sports. Now I have a variety of internet sources to get the sports info without the tmz

Northwestern would be so discombobulated after we hang 60 on em, they won't even know which direction their silly directional school is anymore.

Nah. After we blow them out, they'll go 12-0 next year like Iowa did this year. :loco:
