Did that kid attempt a 90+ yard field goal or can he not hold the ball to punt it?

I'm guessing the kid kicks it farther like that rather than punting.

Either that or the kicker had an injury or something wrong with his hand that he can't hold the ball.

I always thought it was a dead ball and turnover at the spot when a kick was taken from the ground like a field goal. But now that I think about it that is only when the field goal is missed and the kick goes out of bounds. That's why teams have a returner back in the endzone on really long attempts so the ball is still live. Learn something new every day. I guess the guy can kick but can't punt.

If the ball just falls dead on the ground without Nigel catching it in the air doesn't Nigel's team get it at the spot of the hold?

He gave up a TD to Vandy and one deep ball to Mizzou. What else is he giving up? He's been playing a lot the past 6 games.

I was super impressed with his tackle on Derrick Henry after he shed the WR block in the Alabama game. We don't really get to see a lot of those for the vols
