Yea, I struggle with the logic that says "he didn't play much last year, so he couldn't have been all that important this year..."
Wasn't intended to say he couldn't have been important, just that he's still a bit of an unknown commodity to an extent so it seems odd to emphatically state that he would've been important. Obviously he must've looked better in the preseason or else he wouldn't have been in line to start but, then again, we said the same thing about Worley at one point.
Nah Worley and Gaulden aren't close as players. We all expected Gaulden to be nasty.
Wasn't really comparing them as players just making a point about the practice vs game differences. Anyway, I am firmly in the camp that believes Gaulden will be good/great for us in the future but it just seemed odd to me that we were comparing his loss to that of Maggit.

I put stock in the year on STs but the gnashing of teeth over Gaulden was a little overplayed. We were confident he would have been great at nickel, but it was no guarantee. Would've been awesome to see it play out on the field, but what if he had early season growing pains? Most of us felt Evan Berry was a sure thing at safety...where's that line of thinking these days ?
