Coaches leaving the Tennessee program

The OP asked if people thought there might be coaching changes. LWS advised that there likely will and it might be up to half of the coaching staff, not just one or two. Let's us know that the plan is not to keep the entire staff in place...as many on here have suggested.

So there will likely be one or more coaching changes, and there might be several.

That's what I got from it, too.

But then, that's true of every program in every conference, pretty much every year.

Right? So what exactly have we learned here?

I'm not trying to be a jerk, I'm just saying, I see no real info in any of this purported insider sharing.

I'm sure LWS has had great scoops in the past. I'm just not seeing any in the year or so that I've been around. Just seems like vague teasing to me.

not that I'm aware of. Probably just regular season wrap-up and to lay out bowl plans at a high level.

I had not yet heard of the PC.

It was reported the PC was to include Barnes which I thought was odd. That's why I asked.

I agree with those two and the OL coach. They will hire a QB coach for certain. Might be the guy there now but could go outside if the right guy happens.

Forget Tee. Don't see he and Butch working with each other. both mis-led the other in their dealings so be tough to work out. As far as Terry, not sure I call that an upgrade over Martinez. Trading someone who ha coached over 20 years for someone who has one year?? There are better one's out there.

and I like Terry a lot personally.

Thanks for the response Larry. Only reason I threw Fair out was he seemed to really help our secondary guys when he was here. But I'm all for bringing in the best guys they can. A HC can only be as good as his assistants are. I can't stand Saban but year in and out he has elite Assistants that can recruit their a$$es off. I want us to have that again. I really like Butch a lot, I just think he can upgrade at a few position coach's that would only benefit him and make him look better. No need to hire mid major type assistants with what he could get to come coach here. WR has by far been the biggest disappointment and a position we absolutely need a coaching upgrade at. Should make for a fun off season.

Thread of the year worthy. I mean that, honestly. OP you have done such a great thing. We beat Vandy in dominating fashion to end the season at 8-4. We had our best season since 2007. One of the best rushing seasons in school history. Sorry, I digress. Instead of being happy and enjoying the win, lets discuss which coach is going to leave. We have to have some negative threads on the same night as a dominating win right? Of course, because this is VolNation. Home of the perpetually unpleaseable fan base.

This ^ makes no sense. OP isn't being "unpleasable." It was a simple question about who might steal our good coaches. The theme of "Vol Nation negativity" and "Negavols" has made everyone super-suspicious. It was an honest and relevant question about staff turnover, that's all.

Some people are just so committed to their war on the negavols that they sometimes see negativity even when it's not there.

And what in the past makes you think he'll do that? It appears, from this and earlier posts, that you've got some sort of axe to grind with Butch and/or the coaching staff. Why? Constant, steady improvement not enough for you?

Wish we could hire new fans to replace some of you dumbazzes!

My axe to grind is that we are a 10-win team (or more) THIS YEAR. We had two must win games: Florida and Arkansas that we failed to win in horrific fashion. There are serious question marks about this whole staff on Saturdays.

The DeBord hire was ballsy and I began to look at it as genius in the off-season. However, there are still some troubling aspects about a much improved offense - first and foremost, a real lack of production in the second half of almost every game. The lack of production from the throw game with the weapons we have is troubling too. The scripted first quarter looks genius. But you have to prepare for three more.

We all know what Mike DeBord was doing before being hired. My "PE teachers from Mount Pleasant" was obvious hyperbole referencing that. I poke fun at CBJ's BSiA comment from the past.

It's good fun, but there is a serious point behind it:

There will be staff turnover. I hope Hart gives CBJ the freedom to operate to make big hires with assistants who will further improve and help him drive Team 120 to real greatness.

You are absolutely right. A lot of those guys are much more negative about the "negaVols" than the guys they call "negaVols" are about the program. Those guys are seemingly obsessed with calling out anybody who has any criticism of the program, playcalling, scheme, personnel, etc.

To be honest, I think there are elements on both sides that are equally dug into their positions on Jones and the coaching staff. Don't think it's fair to call out one side as being worse than the other. I mean for every poster typing "bUTch" there's another constantly harping on the "best staff in America" and so on.

At a program you want coaches coming for your assistants that means your doing something right.... World wont stop cause we lose players and coaches... that's difference in a football team (Dooley) and a Football Program (Butch)

Wrong sir. Criticisim is fine but it should be done with fairness and equality. Have there been coaching blunders? Absolutely. Has the playcalling been bad at times? Absolutely.

There have also been many instances of bad player execution. In fact, probaly as many or close to the amount of bad coaching decisions. Now, most who post criticism about UT do so fairly and objectively. But there are some who use criticism as a mask for just plain hate for Butch Jones. Thats why they get called out.

There is no single reason as to why we have lost the games we have or performed badly. Its a combination of things. The true rickybobbys of VN refuse to believe that and place everything squarely on Butch. Thats ridiculous and warrants the comments made against them.

I'm not convinced. I struggle with the relationship between he and Jones.

His motivation skills during the practice videos seem to be very effective, although I have no idea of his coaching ability and what he does during game day adjustments and substitutions etc.

Maybe his "coaching up" abilities aren't up to par, or is it character issues?

What gives LWS?
