Yeah like getting us out of the red and building our reserve, hiring a HOF basketball coach, signing us to Nike to bring in a boat load of money.
Seems fairly obvious there's been a systematic reduction to the bands involvement in games. It's almost as if they are reluctantly tolerated at all. More piped music, third down for what, etc. and cutting back on when to send even a small pep band. You can't tell me there's not a few thousand in that $100m budget to send some drums and brass five hours away.
Of course it isn't. But it's the first time in a very long time, and the first that I can recall.
Unfortunately, it's not. Since Hart took over, we have not taken a pep band to Arkansas 2011, Oregon and Missouri in 2013, Oklahoma last year and Missouri this year.
In days past, for a long trip like Oregon or Oklahoma or even Arkansas, the University would get a larger charter plane and the pep band and cheerleaders would travel on the plane. For trips close enough to drive, they would bus. Hart does not believe in that, leaving the team charter for the players and staff.
They had the option to bus to Oklahoma last year and Missouri this year, but declined for the opportunity to take the full band on another trip instead of a pep band to each.
