Hello Volnation Friends.. Sorry to derail the thread, I just wanted to take the time to check in with everyone.

Last time I posted on here, I was in need of help meaning lots of prayers. Looks like like all of them paid off because I am doing much better and have hope now that everything is gonna be fine. After a ton of tests and all that good stuff, the drs found absolutely nothing wrong with me in that regard. But I was having other symptoms of another condition and she determined that is what I have and she is treating me with some good medicine that I will have to take for the rest of my life which is fine. That said, this condition will not bring me down and I'm gonna just carry on with my normal life of love, laughter, exercising, and eating and sleeping good. So I feel like my life is back to the way it was before this bump in the road, but such is life.

Anyway, I hope everyone is doing ok. Now lets win these last two games and finish 8-4 and go to a good bowl game.

:hi::rock::dance2::clapping::pepper::aggressive:

Waiting on those test results are almost as bad as getting bad news from the test results.

Glad you're doing ok, SHG. Hopefully better days are ahead and the worst is behind you. Prayers for you still, ma'am.

Butch must have gotten all of our opponents in on your big cleat conspiracy too, Bruin. He's a mastermind.

No doubt he wants turf, but the cleat thing is ridiculous. No way he'd actually make decisions that could cost him a game just to get field turf.

The cleat thing was backed up by Deerpark

The molded cleat that all the kids like and have been wearing doesn't have the longer cleat. He said some of he players have decided to switch over

You asked what screamed good about them. I answered the thing that both are good at. Both teams have defenses that are good enough to give them a chance in games even though their offenses are beyond pitiful.

That's scary.

And I agree? My response was to Catbone saying they are a good "team".

This turf field talk. I honestly don't care either way. Although Jimmy Hyams and a few others have tweeted out that Neyland will stay a natural field according to UT. I doubt they say that only to then switch to turf.

I'd like to win a game or two against Saban before he leaves. He's been the elite coach of the SEC and needs to lose to the Vols in a bad way.

I would like to beat him too, but the longer he is there, the more elite recruiting classes he has, which means there will be longer dominance on the field. The sooner he goes, the better

Their defense screams good to me.

Our final two opponents are both teams with great defences and terrible offenses. Both have given some good teams problems. Overall, I wouldn't call either an easy opponent because each defense is so good.

If our defence played as well as Vandy or Mizzou's, we'd all be talking about our upcoming trip to Atlanta and our chances in the playoffs.

Houston put 34 on Vandy. Miss State put 31 on Mizzou. We're a better offense than both.

If the players focus the way they did for Florida (who has a much better defense imo) we should score 30-35 points against Mizzou and Vandy.

Screw Saban...let him bring in a couple of mediocre classes and you will see how overrated he is. Dang good recruiter, but all the kids bought into the hype train early on and he delivered, so it became self perpetuating. He is a good coach, but with all that talent you'd have to be a idiot not to win.

I agree with the bolded, but damn man, sometimes your logic for coming to these conclusions makes me want to beat my head against the wall. You hand picked two games that their defense played really bad in.

I'll throw a couple of numbers out there and see how they stick.

We beat South Carolina 27 - 24.

Kentucky, who we beat 52 - 21, beat South Carolina 26 - 22. They beat SC by one more point than we did. South Carolina scored two less points against KY than they did us. Is KY a better team than we are then?

We beat Georgia 38 - 31. Georgia spanked SC 52 - 20.

Pulling 1 or 2 games out of the air and throwing numbers out based off of those means absolutely nothing in this case. If it does......then Kentucky is a better team than we are based off of our USCe games.

Wasn't North Texas complaining about the field conditions as well? I know it affected some South Carolina players during the game. Those teams aren't wearing the same cleats as us, are they?

I hear ya. We were close this year. Could you imagine the insanity that would ensue if we beat them next year in Neyland? Great chaos. Just don't want to hear stupid Bama fans saying well you never beat Saban after he leaves.

I think every team that has played on our field this year (maybe excluding OK since it was the first game) has complained about our field. I was sitting in my easy chair (with no cleats whatsoever on) last week drinking beer complaining about our field. When I saw more chunks of grass sitting on top of the ground than actually in the ground, I felt I had a pretty good reason to be complaining. :)

Meh.....I don't care what the Bammers have to say. Bear Bryant was happy when Robert Neyland retired .

Not getting the grass vs turf talk. If you want to keep grass fine. But @&%$@&$ fix it. Plenty of grass fields are functional on game day. Ours is not. Fix it, replace it, don't care which you do bit it has to be better

I have only said the cleats are a very small part of this. It's a combination of things IMO but yes the molded cleat is apart of it.

Bruin- are the current cleats a problem for the players or are they trying a different cleat to combat this ridiculous grass or lack thereof lol! Thanks!

Deerpark said the molded cleat is for the skill players only and from what I was told it's very light and that's why the kids like it and been hesitant to wear something else. My guy thinks a decent number of the slips on the field wouldn't have happened with the other shoe. Travis Stephens posted the molded cleat wasn't good for wet conditions

Per Deerpark now the kids are starting to switch over to the traditional 1/2in non molded cleat
