What's 74 saying? Will Hurd transfer to Pittsburgh or Duke?

Edit: I can hear the announcers now. "Jalen played his first to years at Tennessee but transferred and sat out a year because he didn't like the offensive scheme."

Heck I got complaints about the sod.

The problem of systems featuring a particular star player is that the loss of said player is death to the season. We don't yet know whether Butch will get it or not, but, not being dependent on guys like Chubb or Fournette or super star quarterbacks put you in position to remain more consistent through injuries. We've seen what happened to UGA without Chubb (even with highly rated guys on standby) and I think the same fate would befall LSU sans Fournette. Can't say whether Butch will get it done thinking that way, but I like the intent.
This offense wouldn't go far without Hurd right now IMO.

There is a ton of doo doo to try a bring it over here. Summary: Hurd's not happy. Doesn't like the offense. Was promised some more pro set plays from under center and it's not happening. Tired of getting hit behind the line about every time. Tired of running left and right. Tired of not knowing if he's getting the ball untilDobbs gives it to him. General frustration.

Thanks for the summary. I am not sure I would like to play the role Hurd was asked to play in the 4th quarter Saturday night running into a stacked box. Tactically it may have served its purpose but why subject one's elite players to a game of attrition? There is the other side. At some point for Jones' system to work we must consistently control the line of scrimmage. Philosophically I can understand why Jones' doesn't scheme to exploit match ups. The real question is, how long can he "afford" to scheme this way?

With all this talk of our system, just realized the pistol formation from the past 2 years has not been used at all this year.

I believe Kamara's big run against BG was from the pistol. Only one I can recall. Was Hurd's fumble against UGA from the pistol?

Agreed, but that's more on the OL than the system.

THIS! Yes, the scheme is not perfect for Hurd, but the OL is just THAT bad. Henry and Fournette would not be doing any better behind this crap blocking.

Him and Dobbs go hand in hand imo

The threat of both makes it work

Dobbs is the most important piece to this offense. Hurd is definitely a huge piece though. I think a RB by committee approach could survive him. Without Dobbs this running game is dead. We wouldn't even make a bowl without him.

Trav also said if Hurd would embrace the scheme instead of trying to change it then he would eat and that is what he should do. Stop trying to instigate and blow this up even more Bruin. You are not telling the whole story and that is worse than what 74 said. I don't care who it is but if Butch is any kind of coach then a player or family will not hold him hostage.

But he LIVES to instigate.

Much of the last long touchdown drive against Florida was from the pistol, with Hurd behind Dobbs. It was a thing of beauty to see Hurd hit a hole at full speed and just move people. I wish they would run from that formation when they're trying to close out a game.
