This didn't happen on campus, it was ALLEGEDLY yelled at him, there is no evidence that it indeed happened. What is the college president supposed to do about this? Why does it concern him at all? The student response to this is over the top, laughable, but all too predictable, in today's hyper-sensitive, politically correct America.

I would be pretty pissed off, too. In general, blacks are twice as likely to unemployed as whites. I know, I have already read the hide their check under their work boots line ITT. Blacks are just an entitled bunch looking for a handout.

However, black college graduates are also twice as likely to be unemployed as white college graduates. Is the handout mentality just ingrained in the black DNA? I mean after they struggle to get out of the ghetto by excelling in crappy schools and graduate college they decide that government cheese is indeed the way to go?

Yes to this.

The term institutional racism is used to suggest that the actual structure of our country is racist. That these way it operates is inherently racist and until it is deconstructed and rebuilt the problems will remain.

Racism still exists. It will always exist and we should (and have) take steps to minimize it.

Systemic? Not sure about that and one study about resumes doesn't confirm it is systemic.

Some of the problem is that race and socio-economic circumstances are intertwined. Much of what gets labeled racism is really socio-economic disparity. Even with no racism among individuals these disparities won't go away in any reasonable time period.

so, what happens if/when the president gets removed, and people are still doing the same things? Protest again until people stop? How about protesting for an actual change that will ermmmmm make a difference. Calling for someone's head is irresponsible, Ill advised, and a knee jerk reaction.

There could be any number of factors here. I doubt most people here are suggesting blacks are inherently anything.

Can you show the same data for people with the same education (degree/school)?

College, the institution that is supposed to be preparing young people for the real world, is the institution in this country that is least like the real world.

You're assuming that they think firing the President matters.....it doesn't, that's not the point and they know that. All that matters to them is a "victory" to make themselves feel better, even though you know, I know, and they know, that the President of the University of Missouri, has NOTHING to do with this and has no power to do anything about what people have allegedly said or will say. If people want to be racist idiots, they will, regardless of who the university President is.

Is there a reason that an across the board study shouldn't be fairly balanced or does your question imply that white students have access to better schooling?

If these kids don't play they will be costing themselves lots of money . The NFL will not deal with this the same way college will. Its a all business in the NFL and about the bottom line. My point being racism is a bad thing and should be exposed but you cant stop the world from turning life and or society must and will continue on daily bases . Find a way to bring notice to your cause without disruption.

At it's root it just a couple of hours of entertainment, but a home game helps support a local economy. I am sure there are a lot of paycheck to paycheck workers out there that need the extra work a home game brings, and there are business that keep going year round because of the few Saturday home game profits.

And what about the other thousands of athletes that are on a full ride that might not have the opportunity to get an education otherwise? Baseball, track, gymnastics, soccer, wrestling...I could go on listing the amount of NCAA sanctioned sports that receive partial or full benefits, but I won't since I'd hope you get the point.

Your singular scope of looking at just football in this supposed "inherently racist education system" just smacks of your ignorance of the matter at hand. These universities do make a crapton of money off these athletes. Yet also bend over backwards most of the time to accommodate their needs. They get the best medical care, the best food, great living conditions and colleges do their damnedest to make sure they keep their grades up in order to keep playing and generating money for that school.

But you go on thinking these athletes are downtrodden victims of racist policy while the universities swim in the money they make.

but this is CERTAINLY not limited to people of color.....or have you failed to notice the names Aaron Medley was called recently? What about poor people being called rednecks? Calling someone names is not limited to people of color. It should never be done....but you can't fix ignorance or stupidity in everyone, you just can't. No matter what color the tongue is voicing those hateful words. Racism is an act of stupidity and complete lack of intelligence. There are, on a %, as many black racists as there are white racists I suspect. And it is an acquired trait is what is so sad. No baby was ever born a racist.

I couldn't care less. I only speak the truth and I don't think I'm crossing any lines (nor am I seeking to) by speaking the truth. This is silly, these students AND student-athletes are being silly, and it's clear that this is just another way of phony and misplaced anger.

Your point is a deflection that the right uses.
Whites commit 70% or more of those crimes period.

That means they commit the majority.

Whites commit 88 % of crime versus whites.

If you are white a white person is way more dangerous to you than a black person.

Its not a shock when crime rates are higher for improvished people. Black and white people in the same income brackets have similar crime rates.
