I really hope this is a pragmatic attempt of negotiation; they high-ball, the administration low-balls, and they get something in the middle (better than if they came out with less ridiculous demands).

If they sincerely believe in these demands, they are beyond help.

Is there any evidence that anything that has happened at Mizzou is "systemic racism"? Too often this is conflated with individual racism, which is much more difficult to eradicate.

I don't know the answer to the reasons why but maybe a good read for you would be How to Make Black America Better by Tavis Smiley

He lays out some issues and making education the #1 priority is one of his solutions. He says " We can't keep blaming the system for failing our kids when we fail them ourselves"

A white officer is at a scene to take a report and the person refuses to speak with them because " all white cops are racist" and they demand a black officer come to the scene

I'm not gonna answer that preposterous question. But I will tell you some of the instances of racism I experienced in college.

First, I was constantly asked to show my ID to campus police when I was walking around campus. I thought this was normal for everyone till I asked my white friends and they said they never has any instances with campus police and the need to show ID.

Second, parties on campus were very segregated. The black frats would do their own thing on one part of campus white frats would do their own thing elsewhere. When I attended black frat parties there were always cops around. And there were metal detectors checking folks for weapons before letting us into an on campus party. Once again I thought this was normal till I decided to attend some white parties and saw no cops or metal detectors around.

And this doesn't include all the times I was asked around campus whether I played on the football or basketball team. FYI I was on academic scholarship.

This is what black folks and especially black men have to deal with on predominantly white college campuses. We are not treated as part of the college community but rather as outsiders. I'm sure the kids at Missouri have similar experiences which is why they've rightfully demanded changes so they can feel as safe in campus as their white classmates.

So they can make the school way more money than the value of that scholarship.

Don't get it twisted. D1 college football players are the ones doing colleges the favor not the other way around. If anything these colleges are exploiting the athletes.

So the black frats had metal detectors before letting people in? That pretty much sums up why you experienced what you did.

If the strike continues at Missouri by the football players, I'm assuming it impossible to scedule a replacement game since all of the scedules are set in stone. Could we play an opponent one week after the season? Possibly BYU? It looks like they will be without their game against Missouri this week.

What would the NCAA and the conferences involved do? There are contractual arrangements made and many, many things will be effected by this.

I would personally like for the Missouri players to play for their fanbase and themselves. I understand they want the removal of the President. Can't these demands be met, if justifiable, without putting their fans and other teammates in jeopardy?

It almost sounds more of a political movement since the issues surrounding this involve healthcare and planned parenthood....

If the President is unfit to serve as President then remove him like you would anyone. I just don't get the whole quit on your fellow teammates and fanbase strategy.....

Right. But it would be neither a win or loss for UT. Just an 11 game record for UT. So by default UT could end up with just 7 wins opposed to 8.

Could effect bowl pecking order which effects bowl earnings and standings...

This is a serious issues other than players just making a stand. Again, I don't know the specifics. But there are other ways to get things done than to cause further damage to fellow mankind.....

I think it's only fair to allow Tennessee and BYU to play the week after the Vandie game.......

On a nuetral site since I believe both UT and BYU are supposed to travel to Missouri.

I don't think this is correct. You are talking about what happens with a vacated win. With a forfeiture, the other team is awarded a victory... but this won't happen. Mizzou will play and Tenn should win a close, low scoring game. Something like 23-13.
