That was my argument on the Kamara fumble as well.

Now on the USCe fumble, is it the whistle or the arm up that ends the play??

If it is the arm up the replay showed it was up before the fumble

It is the arm in this play as it was where forward progress was gained.

The play should not have been reviewed.

The ball did come out before the whisp but forward progress had already been established with possession. End of play.

Refs made a mistake looking at replay. You can't review forward progress.

I don't wanna hear about a "lucky win."

A player making a play when the game is on the line isn't luck. It's effort/desire/determination/skill.

And I can sum it all up in just one word: courage, dedication, daring, pride, pluck, spirit, grit, mettle, and G-U-T-S, *guts*. Why, Foremans got more guts in his little finger than most of us have in our large intestine, including the colon!:)

Here is my guess on what the rule is and why.

Since officials are taught to be cautious blowing the whistle for replay purposes I am fairly confident that forward progress is ruled dead when the official makes the signal. The whistle is meaningless

If I am correct they got it correct last night in that the official did in fact make the signal with the hand up BEFORE the fumble.

Asking for a player injury if that's the case. Blowing the whistle once forward progress has stopped is for player safety.

I think this was just an odd case where the whistle was just slightly later than the arm signal. Perhaps it is they are taught to be a little cautious with the whistle

SBV said it best IMO

Hyams just said Dobbs has been playing on an injured foot on TV a second ago. Anyone heard anything about this?

Don't want to beat a dead horse, but I have some friends at Mizzou and thought I would shed some more light on the situation. It's more about what the president hasn't done, than anything he has.

Basically it's tension has been brewing over the past few years, but recently it's been blowing up due to several overt acts of racism, including but not limited to the swastika. The complaints are because even after all of these acts the only thing the president has done is issue mandatory online diversity training to faculty and staff. So the protesting students are saying because the university isn't coming down stronger and making statements and whatnot, he's letting the situation possible escalate.

Don't really have an opinion one way or another, just thought I'd mention that since everyone seemed to be getting hung up on the swastika thing

No doubt, their offense is predicated upon the system-- the QB doesn't impact it too much.

With that said though, Baylor is the biggest pretender left in playoff contention. They will crumple once they face some true competition; even more true for when they face a good defense. I think the fact that their new QB is a frosh could cause them some problems though once they face one of these better teams and Baylor gets punched in the mouth.

Briles has had Oklahoma's number for awhile now and I bet he took some notes of that TCU/OK State game. Now if his D can duplicate that? This is all off the point...Oklahoma gets another loss IMO.

I would be of the opinion that, for replay purposes especially, either action by the referee would mean the play is dead. He saw something that he judges ended the play, and took an action (of either blowing the whistle OR raising his hand).

For obvious reasons, the players play to the whistle, but I would think the replay official could and should use either.

2 interesting things from Doug Mathews this mornings

Says we are signing 20 guys and only way to go over is blue shirts

And the other isn't going to be popular here. He pretty strongly stated that tkjr has yet to show he is a championship level player. He was pretty down on his performance last night and inferred it's time for him to show he's a guy for the future or perhaps we need to move on.

So whichever comes first?

TK is sophomore... Little to early to say he is a bust IMO

Meh, disagree. It was lucky. Dobbs said after they scored so easily, twice, they let off the gas. SC got back in the game. And we had two final possessions in the 4th to get first downs to win the game. Instead it was three and outs, giving SC every chance to win or tie it up with a field goal. Foreman's play was great determination. But we got lucky they didn't tie the game. The momentum was in their favor if they did. This game should've been over in the first half, the team knew it, and we knew it. So to me it was lucky for this team to pull out this win after kinda give up so early in the first half.

I went over to the FF thinking it would be OK since it was a win. I expected some criticality. That's fine.

While most that participate over there are OK, and some are understandably critical, there are at least five or six posters who must not be able to enjoy anything--ever.

We did win, right? After reading over there, I wasn't sure.

But teams win like we did every year across the country. We only care because we closely follow our team. We have lost games like we played last night. Our defense didn't get stops in 3 of our losses this year, and it's good to see that someone made a play. You can't have it both ways when you criticize them when they lose. Have to praise when they win.
