Thoughts on the game:
- Butch was salty after the game with the media. Preemptive strike. and then felt bad about it... It was kind of awkward to watch. He's right though, nothing to apologize for.

I found this mini-rant completely odd. The question that got him started was about what did USCe do to slow down the offense after the fast start.

I don't think he was "right". The question wasn't phrased in any way asking him to apologize to the media or fans about the win. Just a really strange situation.

Big Owen Williams was the MVP on defense IMO. SC had their last two TD drives with him out of the game IIRC, when we couldn't seem to stop the run. Then he came back in for the 4th quarter & our defense shut them out.

He had three TFL for the game & Barnett two.

I don't wanna hear about a "lucky win."

A player making a play when the game is on the line isn't luck. It's effort/desire/determination/skill.

He was gonna make that point no matter what was asked. I guarantee someone said something to him before that PC that made him do that. He was going to make a point to defend his guys, and he said many of them are playing with injuries he doesn't discuss to the media (Dobbs), and they are being warriors.

Replay question

Watching the forward progress/fumble play live I 100% thought it was ruled correctly. Watching the replay the I also thought it was correct until you add the sound. If you listen to the sound the whistle actually blew after the ball came out.

Does the replay official have access to sound?

I don't think they reviewed the sound, but whether or not forward progress was stopped without regard to the whistle.

My problem with the Kamara fumble was the Wiseman penalty "after" the whistle.

Replay clearly shows him destroying the USC player prior to Kamara fumble.

Can't have it both ways

I was ranting about that and the people around us thought I was nuts. I'm glad someone else saw it that way.

You've been dead on about Jennings. The guy is an animal. Twice (!) on kickoffs I noticed the guy behind him had to pull him back while Medley was setting up...he's giddy to hit someone.

Yeah...ABOUT Baylor's "great play versus KSU"? :pinch:

Oh? KSU stink? Down in Big 12 country a game where your "backup QB" throws for 419 yards 3 TDs and 0 INTs against them is still considered PURTY GOOD. :).

If you want to quibble on Baylor's D?... that had nothing to do with Volatil's BACKUP QB qualifier. Summary? They ain't missing a beat with Stidham...Russell ain't getting the job back. :hi:

Harlan was the last place I ever wanted to go in our assembly, but they hadn't had a pastor in 18 months and the church was dying. But when I was asked to come and see if I would be interested, I came up here and God started working on my heart. I actually love the place. I don't talk about it much on here. But I owe God everything I have, and I love him for it. A lot of people talk about faith, a few actually live by it. I am just an old redneck drug addict that was saved by the infinitely loving grace of God. I'll go anywhere he wants me.

I'll say this for Harlan, El Charrito and Panda Garden are as good as or better than any other Mexican and Chinese restaurants (respectively) that I've ever eaten at anywhere.

And a big Amen to everything else you said in this post.

I follow him because I try to get as much info on the Vols as I can (living out of state), but man, he non-stop whines and complains.

I gave up on the dude when he went on one of his psycho emo rants about a girl a year or 2 back.

I went to school with him. He can be ok guy, but he really would have been better off getting out of town and covering a truly neutral program.

He said himself that wasn't a reaction to any sort of question he just has wanted to get that rant out for sometime.

Posted this in the FF and curious if this makes any sense with this crowd

Here is my guess on what the rule is and why.

Since officials are taught to be cautious blowing the whistle for replay purposes I am fairly confident that forward progress is ruled dead when the official makes the signal. The whistle is meaningless

If I am correct they got it correct last night in that the official did in fact make the signal with the hand up BEFORE the fumble.

No doubt, their offense is predicated upon the system-- the QB doesn't impact it too much.

With that said though, Baylor is the biggest pretender left in playoff contention. They will crumple once they face some true competition; even more true for when they face a good defense. I think the fact that their new QB is a frosh could cause them some problems though once they face one of these better teams and Baylor gets punched in the mouth.

I guarantee someone said something to him before that PC that made him do that.

That could be... at least I hope it was and he was speaking out to have the backs of his players. If not, he's going to need to have thicker skin than that as the talent he has recruited gets another year older and the expectations rise accordingly.
