I have no idea if official gets sound, but I made sure I listened several times to replay, and the strip absolutely happened before the whistle.

Also, that's what makes the reversal of the Kamara fumble so inconsistent. The USC player did pick it up, but he lost it, and the ball was loose again. The whistle was blown before the second USC player recovered it. SFrankly, I didn't agree with that call.

That was my argument on the Kamara fumble as well.

Now on the USCe fumble, is it the whistle or the arm up that ends the play??

If it is the arm up the replay showed it was up before the fumble

Not sure, and I understand why they didn't overturn it. It is just the lack of consistency with the other calls that frustrates me.

It reminds me of the Gordon INT for a TD against Vandy under Dooley. The whistle blew, but the official botched it so badly that they let it stand.

Thoughts on the game:

- Finally, finally, finally Tennessee catches some of the luck they have been missing the last half decade. Great resilient play by Foreman to bail us out. Last year it took overtime, this year we won in regulation. Again, progress vs. where we were last year.
- Kamara had 7 touches (4 carries, 3 catches) for 57 yards and 2 TDs. Our offense would be SO much better if he was getting 15-20 touches per game. He can stretch the D and make it easier for Jalen. No clue why we don't utilize him more.
- take away Dobbs Hail Mary interception, and his passing stat line was real solid 20/34 255 yards. Did a good job avoiding sacks as well.
- Justin Martin is really really good.
- we missed Randolph a ton. He needs to play smarter - gotta know you can't make that hit.
- great kicks by Medley. Needed them badly.
- pass rush needs to be much better. Very inconsistent.
- Butch was salty after the game with the media. Preemptive strike. and then felt bad about it... It was kind of awkward to watch. He's right though, nothing to apologize for. South Carolina gave us their very best shot, and our 75% was enough to beat them. I don't think it was effort issue on our end, we just didn't execute very well.
- 5-4. We'll be bowl eligible next week. The Citrus Bowl is still within reach after Ole Miss and A&M went down.

Agreed on jennings but reality is 99/100 when guys are tangled up officials don't have the balls to pick a side

Kamara wasn't being pushed back like the USCe runner

Refs are supposed to let the play play out as much as possible. They typically don't blow the whistle until the player is being push backwards significantly. With the SC player it was barely more than a stalemate that happend within a second. If he signaled forward progress, he was wrong. IMO.

I realize there are many gray areas that occur that could fall either way. Why are we getting zero of the 50/50 calls? Also, when the officials have the benefit of HD, multi angle replays, why do they not overturn bad calls against the Vols when it's obvious as itnwas last week against Mosley?

My problem with the Kamara fumble was the Wiseman penalty "after" the whistle.

Replay clearly shows him destroying the USC player prior to Kamara fumble.

Can't have it both ways

We will have to agree to disagree on the USCe fumble. I thought the kid was clearly stopped and going backward. Now the whistle/arm up question leaves some doubt. Going to take that question to the FF I am sure they know that over there

Moseley was one of worst I have seen ever I agree

He was BUT whistle was clearly after the ball came out

The Carolina guy should have been ejected there.

JJ loves to talk. Game last year vs Smyrna I'm pretty sure the Bulldogs were trying to kill him by the end of the game. Same with Vic Wharton and R. Gaulden his Jr year.

He gets under your skin. Those 2 cases caused multiple personal fouls on the opposition. He knows what he's doing

Oklahoma has a real chance at the playoffs now.

Play #6 Baylor with backup QB

Now OK St jumping in the polls

They win out, they are in IMO.

So that means we had AT Least 2 playoff teams on the ropes should this play out.

My buddy coaches in Nashville. Said Gaulden was one of the best/worst. Had to remind his players not to react. He said problem was he backed up his talk and nothing you could do about it

JJ actually got PF calls against Maryville who NEVER get those types of things.
