Listened to Atlanta sports talk today.. Along with the Mark Richt talk--Whatever Vol Nation thinks of Dobbs, they were certainly whining in Atlanta about the Dawgs not having him..

OK I feel a little Bruinesque about this subject because I've been kinda adamant about it. But if next year we have North, Malone, Smith, Croom, Williams, Perry, plus all the newbies, why not JJ to safety. This year the defensive backfield was a liability and cost us atleast two games imo. Every talent evaluator said AA and NFL talent at safety. Defense wins championships and potentially our best safety on the team is catching one to three at most passes per game.

Dobbs would not work in the current UGA system

I agree. Here is the way I see it.

Jennings as WR:
-Rotating snaps with 7-8 other guys which limits his time on the field. Just seems to be the way Butch is gonna do it.
-Sharing the ball with Hurd/Kamara/Dobbs running and the other receivers/Wolf in catches.
-All of this automatically diminishes his impact on a game because of less opportunities.

Jennings as a safety:
-On the field 80% of defensive snaps. (over 50 snaps a game)
-Doesn't need the ball to impact the game.

To me, he is such a ridiculous talent that you put him in the position where he can have the most opportunity for impact if all things are equal. Not to mention, let him, Berry, TKjr, and Griffin fight it out at safety and everyone gets better!

With the experience he's gotten this year, I think you can play him both ways.

Mostly play him at safety where you, I, and many others think he'd kill it. Give him at least a few snaps on offense at WR or wildcat. He just plays like a football player, and you want that kind of guy on the field in whatever capacity you can.

Maybe injuries played a hand this year with North, Croom, and Williams and he was needed for bodies. Even RDA is working with receivers now. I feel his talent is being minimized and it could be costing the team with his potential at safety. hopefully next year with two of them graduating and maybe lots of WR talent back healthy he will make the move. After Warrior signs of course. Don't want to let him know.

100% this. He's a playmaker on both sides and very physical. Safety first, receiver part time, wildcat every time it's called.

Agree, He's going to be very much like Eric Berry.

Dobbs is who he is as a passer, I don't expect him to get much more accurate with time. That said, he's a heck of a colleges football player and is a huge reason why we have been as good as we've been.

@patrickbrownTFP: DL coach Steve Stripling joked #Vols might have set an NCAA record for holding penalties earned vs. Kentucky last week.

Haha, Breakerboy will like that one.

Yet there were still many missed holding penalties on Kentucky. If they actually called all the holding penalties against Barnett teams would never advance…

I just feel like there's a really good chance we're going to blast South Carolina. This makes me nervous because I was nervous about the Kentucky game and we ended up blasting them, but now I'm not nervous about this game, so maybe that means we'll lose. But not being nervous about this game is actually making me nervous, which makes me wonder what that means.
