The Alabama drive only ended because a defensive end sacked our QB after getting past a freshman RT. Not a QB in the world that could've prevented that. Oklahoma game was the culmination of many errors on the defense, coaching staff, and QB. Yes, Dobbs threw an INT. He has 3 of those this year. Chad Kelly has 12. 12. Wouldn't you argue that if he was better, then the Florida and Memphis games would've ended differently?

The defensive errors didn't start until we started going 3&out on offense against Oklahoma.

Two UGA freshman arrested overnight. Might be the nail in the coffin for Richt. Most people I know from Atlanta who are all huge UGA fans want him gone and think they will get Smart. Go get those recruits Butch.

Oh please God, NO !!!!!!!!!!!!!

He is quickly becoming my favorite Georgia coach since Ray Goff.

This is the exact situation that would work out the best. Qb coach...maybe coordinator one day. I know people want to see him as head coach. But coaches live to be fired, and the thought of one day firing Peyton Manning makes me want to throw up.

He says in the article he would be comfortable as the QB coach and had no intent on being a head coach.

The recruiting would be off the charts and I don't think he would even have to leave his office!

Yeah and lets his receivers make a play on the ball. Isn't that part of the job description for a qb?

I will be impressed when he throws well against a decent opponent. He will have an opportunity soon. 11 interceptions since Alabama. Not impressed. Blowout losses to Memphis and Florida along with a crap performance against Vandy and A&M.

Dobbs has limitations like all players but he is a game changing playmaker. He has done things few in CFB ever will.

This. He's relatively inaccurate and average by SEC standards as a passer, but is a playmaker. He's the leader of the offense and puts our offense on the map, which we couldn't say before he took over.

Riddle me this:

How many traditionally top programs have seen a successful or legendary coach go, and then hit a homerun on the next hire?

Let's set the mark at around 8 wins per season. Timeframe, around the last 20 years

Nebraska lost Osborne, hired a solid Solich, fired him way too prematurely, and has floundered.
FSU seems to have gotten it right from Bowden to Fisher
Florida had Spurrier, then Zook... finally got Urban
Tennessee... nuff said
Bama had a run of failures till Saban
OSU post-Tressell... did they fire the next guy before Urban, or was he just a short-term interim?
Michigan - Carr to Rich Rod to Hoke to Harbaugh.
Oregon - Kelly, and the jury is still out right now on Helfrich
Texas - Mack Brown and the jury is still out on Strong.

Who else do you have here?

USC? (the one in california)

The best part about Dobbs is that down and distance seem almost irrelevant. 1st and 10, no gain. 2nd and 10, 2 yard gain. 3rd and 8 and Dobbs picks up an easy 1st down on the ground or hits Wolf/Pearson over the middle for a 12 yard gain.

With Bray and especially Worley, 3rd and long always felt like an inevitable punt was coming.

He pump faked right by a Kentucky defender to move the sticks. When he has space (and sometimes when he doesn't), he can make things happen.

Incorrect. With Bray at the helm we were one of the best teams in the nation at converting 3rd down. Those teams had absolutely atrocious Defenses, but don't take away from the fact that Bray's offense-- which was basically devoid of a running threat-- was one of the most prolific in UT history.

There was a lot of big play all or nothing with bray. Cbj wants to have long wear the opponent down drives

Look for WVU to have a HC vacant spot soon. Talked to a pretty knowledgable guy this morning, that said Holgorson must win the next two games, TTech, and Tejas to keep his job til the end of the season. Either way, would most likely not be back next year regardless.

Apparently, during the TCU game, Boykin ran for a TD and Holgorson high-fived him after the play was over. What an idiot! Apparently, and rightly so, this has pissed the big money people off beyond belief.

Wasn't Holgorsen also on Hart's list at one point, or was that just speculation?

Strong (hot seat)
Golden (fired)
Holgorsen (hot seat)
Fedora (hot seat temporarily cooled)

What a list.

@TheDannyParker: Status of #Vols for South Carolina game👇
Croom out
Griffin doubtful
Kendrick out
Preston Williams questionable
Jay Robertson questionable

Seems like on odd days Kendrick is out and on even days he is playing. Hard to figure

Peyton Manning considers coaching Vols after retiring from NFL | WJHL

Maybe Butch and Peyton already have this worked out and that is why we are getting the #1 QB in 2017 class?

I wouldn't hesitate a second to offer Manning a QB coach role on this staff. However, I wonder how tolerant he would be with underachieving players, either on the field or in the film room. One of the reasons he and Eli thought so highly of Cutcliffe was his innate ability to teach as much as coach.

I think he'd be good...and talk about an asset in recruiting.

Yes, please.

I imagine it would be similar to this.
