Even Berry is a lock, imo. Barnett will need to pick up his production to be 1st team. Hurd might get an honorable mention or even 2nd team, now that Chubb is hurt if he goes crazy these last few games.
I don't know about Dobbs...he might be in the running but...I don't know.
I agree. It was great seeing Cody Vareen make some plays last week.Having Vareen come along in the Bama game was the best thing that could have happened for Barnett. Not having Maggitt has allowed other teams to double and even triple team (along with holding) Barnett. But now they will have to contend with Vareen it should allow Barnett to go crazy (and still be help).
JRM and Berry are the only chance at first team. If JRM isn't first team they should just stop even trying.
Second/Third team: Sutton, Hurd, maybe Dobbs, just because QB play is really bad in the SEC this year. Barnett isn't anywhere near All-SEC this year.
Man, Chris Weatherd has really disappeared this season. Maybe he'll show up the last half run of games. Thought he'd be more of an impact player. Heard yesterday Doug Matthews say Bates hasn't grasped the defense, yet. It's why he's not playing on D, only special teams. He's got a few years left and the coaches will rely on him to contribute with the LB's.... Hope he gets it. He's got the talent.
Oh yeah. Not sure why I didn't put Hurd on the 2nd/3rd team discussion. I think that's a possibility. Fournette and Henry are above him for the honors at this time. And then you have someone like collins at Arkansas that is having a decent year as well.
And on Dobbs, the sec is just down this year with QBs. Prescott is probably the only one that would possibly place above Dobbs. The Allen QBs (Kyle and Brandon) might could get in the discussion

Yea, it worries me about the staff's ability to identify JUCO talent. Especially since it seems like we are putting a lot our defensive eggs in a JUCO basket for the 2016 class.
Blair-bust
Weatherd-meh
Pearson-under-utilized
Riyadh Jones- bust after a freak medical thing
I guess Owen Williams has played well.
Barnett is still in the running for the Hendricks award for best DE in the country. Yeah....he might not have eye popping stats from last year....but to say he nowhere near All- SEC is ridiculous. Barnett is a monster especially when he's not getting held.

Nobody said Barnett isn't talented. Of course he is. But he hasn't had a great year, and if the season ended today, he wouldn't be All-SEC. Other guys are more deserving. Simple as that.
And 100% yes, he gets held more than any player I think I've ever seen. It's insane.
And with all due respect, I've never heard of the Hendricks award in my life.
