Recruiting Forum Football Talk XXII

The whole team looked flat versus Arkansas; I think the UF loss just drained us. .

Many seem to agree with this including myself. So if this has already happened once this year why isn't there more talk about it happening this week on the road. It's why I think this weekend is a dogfight. Big spot for CBJ to make sure he doesn't allow Another letdown performance after a tough loss.

Arkansas is a better team than UK IMO. I do think this is the most difficult game left on the schedule though for the reasons you mentioned.

My opinion before Bama and post Bama was the same, and that was this team can compete with literally anyone in the country. We are a few players and a few plays away from being elite. The plays were on both the players and coaches. My bigger concern is a drop in recruiting this year. We must close top 10. I won't dismiss recruiting dips any longer. The top teams do not have them.

Yes as long as we don't have 3plus TOs I think we can have a letdown and still win for that reason.

I think we elite already. We just didn't make big plays when we needed them in the UF, OU and Alabama games. I don't think there are 10 teams in the country that have the talent and could do as well against those three teams as we did, plus beat Georgia.

There won't be a letdown imo. After Florida and Arkansas and 1st qtr and a half vs GA, I think the team was ready to concede the worst, but then a switch flipped and I see a hungry team now. I don't think we lose again for a long time. Kentucky is about to feel the brunt of the Vols' frustration imo.

I want to see a lot of Dormady in the next 5 games. I don't care what the score is - we need to get him some good game experience.

Fe2O3. Iron does exist in a +4 oxidation state, but rust is Fe+3.

So Iron is +4 and Rust is +3, eh? It's rare you see them both as underdogs on the same weekend...

Giving up too many free electrons. You can't do that and expect to win. JMO

Oh yeah, well I write formulas like this all day:

=IF(H9<39356,IF(AND(I9>369,I9<376)=TRUE,"PER CASE",IF(J9=1,"87.5%",IF(J9>=8,"87.5%",IF(L9>=20000,"87.5%","PER DIEM")))),IF(AND(I9>764,I9<796)=TRUE,"ENTRY?",IF(J9=1,"87.5%",IF(J9>=8,"87.5%",IF(L9>=20000,"87.5%","PER DIEM")))))

So there! #mathguys

I have to admit, I think this is probable the best option for Kill. Loved him on the sidelines at Minn, though. He is a good guy and a good coach. Not great, but he did good things there at Minn which is a tough program to do things at.

As a person that wasn't/isn't a huge fan of the spread I am pleasantly surprised at how physical we are running the football. 2 questions going forward that I think are plenty fair to ask regarding the future.

Can we continue to be a physical Running team when Without a physical bruises back when Hurd leaves?

Can we continue to be a physical running team if we don't have a Running QB?

The anti spread thinking in me says no on both but I admit I am surprisingly pleased right now

The only time I'm been unhappy with him was the 2nd halves of Oklahoma and Arkansas. He let his foot off the gas way too early against OU and the gameplan against the Hogs was pretty bad. No issues other than that. I thought the offensive gameplans were fantastic against Florida, Georgia and Alabama jmo

He still is far too predictable late in the game, especially in the two minute drill or when we are protecting a lead in the 4th quarter. Myself and everyone else in the stadium knows he is going to run Dobbs or handoff to Hurd if we have a lead late, with no threat whatsoever of throwing the ball on first or second down despite the fact there is too much time on the clock to run any substantial amount of it off in only 3 downs. That was a big contributing factor to our losses against Florida and Oklahoma, the latter which you mentioned.

Against Alabama he also did this too much, but on one drive actually took some shots downfield and we scored in 4 plays. Stuff like that is maddening to watch considering the size and talent we have lined up at WR. Give your guys a chance to make plays. Just like Alabama did. Coker didn't make great throws late in that game, but he made the throws and gave his guys a chance to go up and get it, which they did. We have those types of players as well. Drives me crazy.

Holy smokes!! This year might set the record for number of coaching hires in one year.

Twitter blowing up about his presser. Pretty emotional it sounds. Wish I could see it.

@schadjoe: Jerry Kill says God put him on Earth to be a coach. He hopes now he figures something out for him to do.

I hate it for him but really glad a doctor finally stepped in and said enough is enough. He was going to kill himself coaching. It's way too scary to be having seizures on a consistent basis. Coaching at power 5 school isn't going to help matters.

I could see him as a better fit in a teaching role. One of those quality control coaches. Less stress and he gets to stay around the game.
