Homesick is no excuse, IMO. Not commenting on this particular rumor, but I hate hearing about athletes being homesick. Suck it up! /rant

Sorry it's just a personal pet peeve, I see it as nothing but weakness.

Just depends. While I understand your point, taking several visits with your family are not the same as actually living there full-time.

Before going to UT, my father actually told me that everyone gets homesick at some point in time, some just more than others. But, it is natural when you leave at age 18, but he was probably also reassuring me that it isn't a reason to leave.

True, he did follow his offensive coordinator, but good point.

There are a lot of examples, even in the the SEC only the last 10 years or so. Brissett at NC State, Driskel at LA Tech, Brock Berlin who went to Miami, John David Booty at USC, Mettenberger at LSU, and on and on.

I have to disagree. I don't think it's that common. Homesick often times means "I miss how easy things were back home." Not always, but more so than just missing hanging out with your family, at least in my experience.

Ya, I guess it's more common than I thought. Most of those weren't guys who left because they thought they'd never get a chance to start, but I see your point.

Actually, I pulled Booty totally out of thin air. I thought he was originally at LSU. Oops.

But yeah, fairly common. Even moreso lately.

It really wouldn't shock me if Sheriron wins the starting job in 2017 as a redshirt sophomore. I think he's going to be a beast. Dormady could be good too, but he always had a leg up on Sheririon this year since he was an EE. Him being the backup over Jones this season doesn't mean much to me at this point. I still think Sheririon is the one who is built to take over after Dobbs. It will be his 3rd year in the system and we won't miss a beat.

Guarantano will certainly factor in as well. He may be the most talented out of the three and will have a year in the system under his belt.

If true, perhaps Dormady wants to transfer someplace that will throw the ball 50-60 times per game and he realizes that will never be the case under CBJ.

That's the fairest point I've seen made. TCU will sling it all day and their depth chart is much more appealing. I still think it's a bogus rumor at this point, but it wouldn't surprise me come spring.

I hope it's a bogus rumor. I'd personally like to see him slinging it all day here.

Jones will be the guy we develop in the system if qd leaves

I haven't forgotten about him. It'd just be nice if UT could get past the Sith model of one master and one apprentice.

Why not have four or five scholly QBs? You know, shake it up.

The Gruden stuff was true, fell apart at the end.

Read much of Boro's post lately, didn't get the vibe that he didn't care for Butch and company.

I think his source is a current player.

I'll leave the Gruden stuff alone. I had no direct knowledge anyway.

Boro did say this when talking about Dormady:

"Or maybe he senses what some of us sense about the ceiling of this coaching staff and system. It's possible he bought the sales pitch, and now sees something different....like the numerous transfers that were recruited by Lyle.

But you're probably right....he's scared."

Sure isn't a pretty picture he paints about this staff.

Also, the spring timing makes sense seeing that JG is an early enrollee. I'm sure a pecking order will emerge after spring practice.

If you already know you're unhappy enough to tell other people, why wait for the next guy to come in?

I don't buy what Boro is trying to say. The ones who transferred out aren't used to tough love and tough coaching, imo. They wanted things handed to them. If QD feels this way too, then bye. Tough coaching produces results, as evidenced by continued improvement with this program, outside of WRs under Z.

I was as frustrated as anyone after Arky game and at that point didn't believe in Butch. However I'm not sure how anyone can still talk about ceiling or think he absolutely can't do it after UGA and Bama games. Bad coaches lose their teams at that point. He clearly did not. If he brings in another recruiting class like the last few then he will be set. I think he has learned some things from that rough stretch. I do think he needs to figure out the how balance between working your team hard and working them too hard. The offseason injuries were a little much

He must not like the staff based on those comments. Haven't see post before of him saying stuff like that in the past but maybe I've missed them.

You know how kids are, maybe he's just venting. When the Hunter Johnson committed remember JG had a little freakout as well. I'm sure he wonders what might happen when JG comes in, "the new kid". He may of made a comment something along these lines, "If after the spring if I'm not the clear number two guy behind Dobbs, I may just transfer out. I'm sure TCU would love to have me".

Excellent point. Small statements can become big shouts after they've passed through a few whispers.

Edit: Didn't mean to quote everyone there.

Everybody has an opinion. I know nothing of the inner workings of the team that isn't posted here or spouted on the radio.

What I can see is the team hasn't given up, and they are all getting better. I don't pretend to know the ceiling for Jones, but I don't feel like we've seen it yet.

Patience gets old when you're losing, but it's all we've got right now.

Can't or don't disagree with anything you said.

Our Kansas was a low point, but they came back swinging after taking some gut punches against Georgia.

Graduating and moving on is different than quitting before you ever get the starting job. Good point though. Don't think it works out often when a QB leaves because of competition or homesick. Coker, Golson are doing OK I guess, but rarely do you see starting over work well.

Coker and Golson would both be starting for top teams if they had stayed put, so they didn't really accomplish much by leaving--that much is for sure.
