Are Old Testament Stories Allegory or Literal History?

While it appears to be an useless endeavor to debate the anti-religious posters, there is a small chance that the truth about God could help just one of the many people that reads this forum find God, that makes the debate worthwhile.

lulz

How about I call you anti-science? Or anti-logic? Anti-reason?

I am not against religion.

Always a worthwhile debate if only to understand how others think.

Call me whatever you desire to. I have old thick skin.

I call you anti-religion because you have posted you are agnostic.

Agnosticism is a philosophical position that the existence of God is not knowable. Since atheism denies the existence of God, agnosticism does the same thing by not affirming God's existence.

I'm agnostic as well. You can call it whatever you like to get that warm fuzzy but i don't know that God exists and I don't know that God doesn't. I don't know.

I'm certainly not anti-religion. I don't have an issue with any religion as a whole except of course Islam.

You're babbling. This not a logical conclusion.

I'm neutral on the question of religion. I would like to change how some people interpret their religious text. Doesn't make me anti.

What people and which text would you like to see interpreted differently?

You are a better person than I am. I have a problem with groups like Westboro Baptist spewing hatred. I have a problem with the television preachers or any religious group deceiving people to make a buck.

Well yes, Westboro is terrible but they're hardly a mass movement.

I'm not favoring televangelists either. I don't know if anyone who subscribes to that crap.

Just wait until I start my thread about how atheists terrorist are just as bad as any other religious extremist.

His head will explode.

While Westboro is not a mass movement they get a tremendous amount of news coverage for their stunts. They do tremendous harm to Christianity.

There are millions that subscribes to one televangelists or another. Million of dollars are donated to these people yearly.

Are we quoting the bible for support the the bible is true?

Of course. Why is that a problem? Please try to follow along:

A. The Bible is true

B. How do I know? Because the Bible says so.

C. Also, lots of people say it's true.

D. Lying is forbidden by the document, so it must be true.

He has 1000 post in 7 years. He hasn't seen much. Not to mention he's new to the politics forum.

Let him hang around here a while, he will see plenty of bashing.

How is your mom doing Ob? IIRC, I read she was sick and you are headed to Chattanooga.

Early testing indicated a stroke. A contrast CT scan was done and ruled out the stroke, Alzheimer's, and dementia.

But did show the problem. Blood vessels going to her brain are collapsing. (Hence the stroke like symptoms)

I'm heading her way Thursday. Saturday is my birthday and thought she might enjoy sharing it with me.

I've already advised her there will be fried chicken, gravy and biscuits (mom makes from scratch) and fried okra while I'm there.

She told me to come on, she will oblige. :)

As far as her future, we don't know. I'm just going to spend some time with her. I may go ahead and move there at a later date to make sure she is cared for.

Thank you for asking gramps.

Sorry to hear this Ob. It is nice that you are able to spend time with her. Hopefully she will recover. I will add her to my prayer list.

Nothing beats mom's cooking. Add you a slice of tomato to go with that okra and you are set.

Chattanooga?

Anything I can do to help? I/we (church) would be happy to stand in and help in any way we can, especially if you're out of town.
