What? Please explain the correlation? This has been investigated by Mr. Cheek and Hart and nothing is here. Negavol? Maybe he is to busy teaching our wideouts?

The WR's aren't playing well, even with the O-line and the QB problems taken into account. They aren't playing fundamentally sound.

I know it's easy to bash Coach Azz, but I don't think he is a bad position coach. This is the first year I've had an issue with the WR's, and part of that has to do with last year's top 3 WR's haven't been able to play because of injury and other things. My issue is with the split in coordinator duties/titles. I have never liked split coordinators, and can't think of one instance where it has been a benefit on either side of the ball. If you call the plays, you should be in charge of everything. A lot of times it's just a "Title" that they throw at a coach to keep them happy, but the disconnect between the run and pass game this year seems to speak to more than just being a "Title".

I would love to hear a report on how they are doing it. I've seen some staffs that the offensive coordinator asks the Passing coordinator for a pass play when the OC wants to throw, and in my opinion that way is a total cluster. With the way our pass game has been, I wonder how we are doing things. If you're the OC, you should call every play. Getting input on things is fine, but you call the plays....period.

My guess is that it's title only in Azzanni's case. Needed a bumped up title to bump up a raise.

If this is indeed true, his HYPER INTENSE demeanor on the sidelines will prolly end with a nicotene and blood pressure induced explosion of his noggin at some point...

This! As a non butch supporter I have to say I'm glad to see him try something different. Target the problem areas and get to work to ensure they see improvement.

I can admit when the person I don't support does something right, wish many others could play both sides or look at things with a clear head. No one should be totally against one side or the other. Mainly the supporters of him do this. Even the most doubtful of butch supporters have actually said they hope he turns it around.

This doesn't mean he's back in good graces, but it's shows effort, and that what I'm looking for. Win or lose this weekend I hope he continues on game day. If I see effort the whole game with play calling that'll be the biggest improvement this season, and signify true change.

I'm not weighing in on either side of the rumors. The fact that all of this did roil up has had to have some impact on the internal dynamics between Butch and the players. I wonder if a player or group of players flatly told him that booming over a microphone during practice had become impossibly irritating. (I seriously doubt Cheek's investigation addressed this.) If player input is the reason Butch went unplugged, it is highly likely they gave additional input on other simmering issues that had become deeply bothersome to them. This would mean, for better or for worse, that Butch could be in the process of adjusting some aspects of his coaching style. If true, I suspect it will positively impact team morale.

BTW, I wondered about the wisdom of the microphone the first time I saw a practice clip with it being used. I knew if I were a player that it would very soon get on my nerves to the point of supreme distraction. A leader, on or off the football field, must constantly ask whether the techniques and tactics used in order to lead are serving as sources of pressure or sources of motivation. We all enjoy being motivated; nobody can long endure pressure without very negative ramifications.

So, if the microphone has been put on mothballs, I see that as a positive thing and hopefully a sign of better things to come for this team.

It has a lot more to do with the quarterback than the offensive line. Dobbs looks like a deer in the headlights anytime he has to make more than one read.

The simple reason, which obviously is over some peoples head, is that Butch was working with the wide receivers. Amazing how people can read their own paranoia into normal situations.

It's amazing that we even have this discussion. It has always struck me as odd that he wants to he mic'ed up, like he's some singer at a concert or something. I've always took the approach of "hmm, that's sorta odd, but hey, if it works it works."

Well, it hasn't worked. It's led to a 14-16 record. He needs to ditch the microphone shtick and delegate more to the coaches.
