An athlete and coach are loyal only because they are getting something for their efforts. Just like an employee, how many are going to show up without a paycheck?
Remember I said athlete not alumni.
Mack's a Senior...still here after all this drama. One can readily assume he'll be an alumni. Its why I suggested asking a letterman.
Take that away and you have an in-state kid that chose to play here while we were a raging dumpster fire versus a guy that came here with no connection, for a paycheck. Additionally, there is no evidence that he did anything other than remain quiet during this whole episode, and today tweet about team unity. Tell me how he deserves to be disparaged, and to be excoriated by Vol fans because he's part of a situation of somebody else's making
And Hamilton chose to hire Dooley instead of him!!
One of the biggest blunders in Vol history. If Cut had been promoted to HC, we'd be among the SEC elite to this day. Hamilton was a great fund raiser, but, knew ZERO about running an Athletic Department and thought a clean sweep of everything Phil Fulmer was the only answer. We've been paying a dear price ever since....
Crowder never deserved to be disparaged. Crowder never owed us a statement nor did the the University since Crowder never made an allegation.
But completely different subject than the mercenary quote.
Rumor is that this is a cover up.
There are people who know other people and these other people have seen/heard things that no one else knows about. Except for the people who were told those secret things by the other people they know. If the University remains silent about these new allegations, that is a sure sign there is substance to the secret rumors. If the University makes more statements, that is an even worse sign that something definitely happened. At this point all we can say is that there is, in fact, a cover up of something secretive and that the future actions will determine to what extent the cover up exists and how bad the fallout will be. My only hope is that the guilty will be punished before further damage is done.
Several have taken the opportunity to disparage the student, unrelentingly while defending the coach tooth and nail.
Mercenary is not a bad word....but it illustrates the difference between a coach like Butch, with no prior connection, who coaches for a check, and a student athlete who chose to play/ learn at a particular school.
