The meltdown that is happening on the Vandy message boards

What's funny is the thread about being out of step. DonYates' post is basically making all the arguments against Franklin that have been made for the last 3 years here; that's hilarious on so many levels considering before Franklin left if anyone had said that he would have broken into hives and banned the user.

its a microcosm of dichotomy over there. they are grasping to whatever straw they can to not go back to SOV, despite some of the posters remembering the glory days of SOV.

I honestly think they never really stopped being SOV. Yeah, they had a couple of years above .500, but nobody ever considered them a worthy opponent even when they were doing okay.

Vandymania
Wikipedia defines mania:

Mania is the mood of an abnormally elevated arousal energy level, or "a state of heightened overall activation with enhanced affective expression together with lability of affect." [1] Although it is often thought of as a "mirror image" to depression, the heightened mood can be either euphoric or irritable and, indeed, as the mania progresses, irritability becomes more prominent and can eventuate in violence. Although bipolar disorder is by far the most common cause of mania, it is a key component of other psychiatric conditions (e.g., schizoaffective disorder, bipolar type; cyclothymia) and may occur secondary to neurologic or general medical conditions, or as a result of substance abuse.

They talk about mythical donors and "big bucks" caring about the football program. Vandy may have some rich alumni, but those people couldn't care less about football. Mason will win 1 or 2 games this year but point to defensive improvements, get another year, win 3 or 4 in 2016, get another year, and continue winning that many games for as long as he wants to be the head coach at Vandy.

He's a Stanford guy who runs a clean program, and that's good enough for Williams and Zeppos.

IMO once every 5 years Mason should have Vandy in position to potentially win 6 games if they set up their schedule just right and have a bit of luck too.

I was watching something on tv the other day and some Vandy alums/ supporters were saying they need to hire a coach who would install a wishbone offense, triple option, etc. or something similar to those offenses.

They basically said with a coach like that, that under good circumstances they could expect to be respectable and win at least 6 games yearly. They then suggested that on every 4th or 5th year with a roster loaded with RS seniors and upperclassman, that Vandy would win 9-10 games and be in contention for the East.

They pointed to Johnson's success at GT and believe that should be them. They then proceeded to say they should throw the bank at Johnson, and truly believe he would take the job too haha.

Check out this gem from one of their resident geniuses:

"MTSU looks like they could beat half the SEC"

So Vandy's ego is so big they consider themselves as half the SEC? Sort of goes with their Anchor Down and We Don't Need Your Permission.

lulz from VM.

I'm not expecting a win, but I'm not going to get too bent out of shape with a loss. Despite the 1-2 record, I'm seeing a lot of things from this team that I'm really liking. AFTER this game, there is a stretch of six very winnable games, starting with MTSU, and that stretch will make or break this season.

So looking at the "six very winnable games" after Ole Miss treats them like a drunken prom date:

@ MTSU (they are gunning for Vandy)
@ USCe (down, but I'm not sure the OBC has fallen that far)
Mizzou (lololololol)
@ Houston (gonna rip them apart)
@ Florida (winnable with their lack of offensive talent...in the Swamp?)
UK (far better in all phases of the game than Vandy)

I'd really love to know what they are putting in the water over there.

Honestly, their D is probably good enough to completely shutout Mizzou. Their O is complete garbage.

Depends on which Mauk shows up. If bad Mauk plays, it could be a tough day. If good Mauk hits his marks, it won't be pretty.

And while Mizzou might be down, we're still talking about Vandy.

Mizzou will probably beat Vandy, UK, USC, and Arkansas by some garbage scores like 9-7 or 11-6. Then their fans will continue beating their chests and thinking they are a good team.

I could also see us losing to Florida in heartbreaking fashion and then Mizzou beating them soundly despite Mauk completing 5% of his passes and throwing 8 picks.

They actually have several over there that have UT in the "winnable" category.

I'll say it again, the only team I can honestly seem them maybe beating is SC, and I think it being at SC will be why they don't win.

I can't even see the USCe game being close personally. Sure they are down, but not anywhere near Vandy levels from what I've seen.

What cracks me up is the "Hugh Freeze is a good guy" thread over there. Once they get smoked like 73-10 tomorrow, I'm sure that tune will change.

Houston will absolutely beat Vanderbilt.

It's so typical of some Vandy douche nozzle to look at Houston and say "we will rip them". Based on what jackass? Their name? Their conference? Houston won on the road at Louisville last week. Does anyone in their right mind think Vandy would do that? Come within two touchdowns of doing that? I hope Ole Miss prison rapes them today.

I don't think they realize they are right back to the spot they were in....well for most of modern history. They are the SEC every other SEC team looks at and says "Well at least we should beat Vandy." UK had that spot for the 3 years and has handed it back over to its rightful owner.

Actually right now it's even a bit worse. Vandy is back to Watson Brown days, where even most of their OOC opponents looked at Vandy as a sure win.

11,800 VN users online right now -- pretty much think this is where the meltdown really is -- not the Vanderbilt boards

Making fun of Vandy has lost its appeal. We suck too. They will probably have a shot at keeping us from going bowling again this year.
