So do you agree or disagree no-knocks have a time and place?

I would rather lean towards saying "no" because it opens the door for abuse by the cops/authorities. And actually, you are putting cops at greater risk because you are attacking someone on their home turf. Of course someone is going to have guns in their home if they are "armed and dangerous".

I guess I don't live in fear of the next Charles Manson or being taken hostage. I'll have a greater chance of probably getting shot by a cop on the side of the highway for not making a proper lane change.

See, there's the problem. You love to take singular words out of my post and focus on that instead of the entire sentence. Note I said "armed and known dangerous felon." Not just armed and dangerous. Huge distinction there. And cops get paid to take risks. Part of the job. However, when those risks would put the public or innocents at risk, such as a hostage situation, police must err on the side of caution. And if that means not announcing themselves before they rescue a kidnapping victim, I really don't see many people saying a word about it.

Point being, they do have a time and a place and you know it. And I know it's distasteful for you to actually agree with me on a public forum, so I'll chalk your answer up as "yes, they do have a time and place and I see the merits of your argument."

The problem is they are overused. I can admit that. The other side of that coin is having a blanket policy in place of not having no-knocks puts innocents at risk.

I'm pretty sure a hostage taker would pay the police to take you back...

Well they all must be warranted lol

An example would be a situation that would present possible harm to innocents like a kidnapping or hostage scenario. In this situation, a traditional warranted search could spook the perps and endanger the victims.

Another scenario would be an armed and known dangerous felon that presents a significant possibility of harm to the general public and/or responding officers. Think Charles Manson or someone like the DC snipers. (And 8 hate labeling them as "snipers")

Just a couple of examples where no-knock raids have a place.

I was writing a response similar to this and never got around to posting. I agree that no-knocks should be allowed for these types of situations. But they should never be allowed to go after some low level drug dealer or thief unless people's lives are immediately in danger.

Blame Starbucks Culture for Barista Refusing Bathroom to Cop

Lmao! She was just following orders. If that cop didn't like it, why don't he apply for a job at Starbucks and change it from the inside lol
Maybe she'll investigate herself and see if there's any wrong doing. Lol

She doesn't make the rules, she just enforces them lol

So he was arrested?

I swear, this country is going down the toilet bowl when we allow murderers, thieves, counterfeiters, fraudsters and war criminals to walk the streets, but lock up people like this guy or a few pot smokers.
The biggest crime you can commit in the eyes of many cops is disrespecting them.

I don't see the problem with this one. Anyone with firearms training will back the police in this situation. A guy with a knife can travel around 20 feet in less than 2 seconds which doesn't give someone with a gun much time to react.

Axe handle or a Louisville slugger across the knees, works like a charm..😝

Keltec KSG may work also. Too bad they don't produce that in SA.

Removes the threat and probably a limb.
