Here's to hoping that Maggitt worked on not crashing down on the RB during the zone read ALOT today. I saw him do it like 4 times this past saturday and it gave BGSU's QB alot of room to run and pick up big time yardage. Best believe OU saw that and will try to exploit it.

That was probably his assignment. JRM was probably on the qb or maybe the mlb.

despite Saturday, I still think Moseley is a good corner and possible AllSEC CB

this was from a story posted here a couple of weeks ago

15. Emmanuel Moseley | CB | Tennessee Volunteers

2014 snaps: 370
2014 PFF rating: 76.6

Presented is a cornerback who fought his way through depth under a snap limitation that emerged in Knoxville, but Moseley amazingly did his work as a true freshman. Seriously, how much of an impact could an 18-year-old really have had in defensive coverage? He simply allowed a lower completion percentage (36.0 vs. 43.9), yards/coverage snap (0.66 vs. 0.68), and coverage snap/reception allowed (12.1 vs. 13.6) than Florida’s Vernon Hargreaves III. The sky is the limit for this sophomore out of Greensboro, North Carolina.

I would like to see him bounce back. But Good CB's.... never ever get beat THAT bad. They all get beat... but he looked like CB wasn't natural to him. Any and every WR or pass catcher was open against him.

Me and Breakerboy have been at odds about Moseley for a half a year... But everything BB expressed concern about (lack of trust in his ablility, not making plays, rigid technique...bad technique, etc..) was on full display Saturday. He looked as bad as Marsalis Teague.
That shouldn't be...

It's all mental with E-Mo. right now Breakerboy is RIGHT about him. He's a practice warrior.

But in my opinion he is still one of the best pure athletes on the team. We've been spoiled by the best CB in UT history in Cam Sutton for the past 2 years...

Maybe with Martin back Moseley will wake up.

Regardless... Martin will play and play a lot. Somebody needs to hold that spot down. Maybe Moseley can get a look at NB if Martin comes through..

Can someone tell me why DB'S (not just ours) don't ever look back for the ball.Doesn't make sense to me?

It all depends on the route and position in relation to the WR. If trailing the WR then the DB shouldn't look back and try and read the WR's eyes for when to defend the catch.

If the DB is even and can maintain physical contact then yes, look back for the ball.

So do I. I think we'll see a totally different D for the OU game. The have heard all week how bad they looked in the BG game, and will be ready to make a huge statement.

So should we encourage writers, analysts and bloggers to continue to talk about it so theyll have that chip on their shoulder?

I saw Barnett and Vereen do it as well against BG. Don't buy that someone else had the QB - just didn't look that way going back and watching it. Several plays with an end crashing down and no one moving outside to keep containment. I'm sure OK took notice. Having said that, it should be an easy fix as long as they execute and play with some discipline

Agree 100%. I saw Barnett do it even more than Maggitt. The other one they have to fix is where the tight end releases into the flat. Nobody picked him up on at least 4 easy catch and runs for good yardage.

The problems last Saturday stemmed from a variety of sources, as Tennessee allowed the Falcons to pile up four running plays of 10-plus yards and a dozen completions of 15 or more yards.

Those 16 plays accounted for 426 of Bowling Green's output.

"We didn't play well as a defense," defensive coordinator John Jancek said. "The kids know it. It was a disappointing performance, and we have to get better in a hurry.

"They're working. They saw the film. They know what they need to do. We pointed it out, believe me."

Asked if he liked anything about how his group played, Tennessee defensive line coach Steve Stripling was blunt.

"No, not happy with anything," he said. "And the D-line's not happy with anything. It was a great experience in that we didn't do anything well, and it was a reality check. It's been a very professional approach this week."

"All the qualities that we stand for, which is play hard — we didn't play hard. All the qualities we talk about, being accountable — we weren't accountable. We just did not perform to our standards, and they saw it on the film, and they knew it Saturday night.

"When I was on the bus, a bunch of were coming up to me. They knew afterwards. If you want to ask me why, I'm not sure why. I just like the big win and the chance to get better."

Jancek said Colton Jumper and Darrin Kirkland, the two middle linebackers, looked "raw" in their first taste of significant action, set the defensive front wrong "a few times" and "have a lot to learn" moving forward.

"All experience is good experience for me," said the freshman Kirkland. "Being a young guy and playing in college football, there were a lot of mistakes that you make early, and hopefully I can just grow from it in the future."

The Vols know they'll have to be better to snatch a big-time early-season win.

"The defense," safety Todd Kelly Jr. said, "is definitely going to have to bring it, for sure."

Yes, I am sure they addressed this when they watched film. Bet Maggitt got a little embarrassed when he saw himself crash and let the TE jog outside for a catch and score... They say that a team's biggest improvement comes from week 1 to week 2 and lets hope our D improves considerably or its gonna be a long Saturday night...

Were Jones and DeBord in the Circle of Life drill?

Yes, it was during the session that couldn't be photographed...heard from a source that Jones hit DeBord so hard that his mouth piece flew out, after further review, turned out it was actually his dentures.

In other news, CBJ penciled himself in to start at MLB this week...

Absolutely not!

He was talking about Paul Bain (his stripe was removed).

It wasn't removed. The stripe ran in terror

:lolabove: Ha.. I love it. The Paul Bain thread was/is epic. I can see that it will become easy for any thread to deteriorate to epic Paul Bain proportions. I'm trying to hold back... An honest to God Volnation legend was born.

How did you know what I was excited about? Or are you saying it's obvious that we all can't wait to see how the new super athletic and long CB plays in a real game when he is healthy? Or were you just looking for a place to put your picture of captain obvious in a way that makes you look smart and someone else look silly?

Either way "you're welcome"
