"Senior safety LaDarrell McNeil, whose career had been threatened by so-called “neck instability” issues, flew to his native Texas last week and received a much more optimistic second opinion, a program source confirmed to GoVols247 on Tuesday.

It was originally thought that the 6-foot-1, 210-pound Dallas native would need surgery, but the specialist back in Texas believed the issue wasn’t as serious as initially feared, and the hard-hitting McNeil could return to practice as soon as this week.

One program source insisted to GoVols247 on Tuesday that while McNeil could be cleared to practice this week, it has not been determined whether he could play Saturday, when the 21st-ranked Vols host 18th-ranked Oklahoma in Neyland Stadium.

McNeil, arguably Tennessee’s most improved player in 2014, has appeared in 36 games for the Vols and started 31 times, collecting 188 tackles in the process."

I'm not worried about the secondary just yet. Mosley had a bad game but Matt had a very good game. Mosley isn't chopped liver he had good games last year.

FWIW, went back and watched Freak's defensive cut ups. Jumper had 43 snaps. Kirkland had 18 by my count. The rest of the time (10-15 snaps), we were in Dime with Abernathy and JRM was the only true LB out there.

Fascinating bit of psychology there. Using a first name generally implies a degree of familiarity. Referring to an opposing player by his first name is not something I see very often, especially one that isn't a perennial foe.

To me, Bynum looked better last year than Jumper did on Saturday. I try to trust the coaching staff's evaluations (like my opinion matters :) ) but some of their decisions are head scratchers to me.

since we are playing an air raid team that cant run the ball i wouldnt mind it getting a little nasty out there.
