The meltdown that is happening on the Vandy message boards

VandyMania is already getting ugly, and the season doesn't start for 2 weeks. They're already attacking each other over slogans, and one moron said that IF Vandy improves, Miss. St. should be considered the "worst team in the SEC".

That's hilarious considering MSU would still beat Vandy by 4 touchdowns.

So Vandy has consecutive 9 win seasons and couple seasons ago....achieved with absolute smoke and mirrors, in which they finish no higher than 4th either year in the SECe...and we continue to get this ridiculous BS from those buffoons? And people wonder why UT fans occasionally bring up Vandy in order to ridicule them.

Which one of you is AndyJackson?

As you can see, almost everyone there is a d-bag, as your post was pretty fair I thought, yet the only reply is "Who cares"?

The prediction thread is hilarious; the moron who started it thinks they'll go 6-6 (someone already addressed it). He also thinks they'll lose to UF by double digits but then beat us by 1.

And don't forget our buddy immyaxl; he's still over there blabbering.

Reading their forum I'm sometimes convinced VU football history only dates back to the 2012 season so this whole being terrible thing is new to them...

I'm just guessing that a lot of students or alums that didn't even know what football was until Vandy played pretty well made a fanbase out of nothing and now are realizing what was happening at this school before they knew what football was.

Ouch. Losing your starting LT and best WR in the preseason is bad enough.

Makes it even worse when their backups are C-USA quality.

I think Vandy may be in for two meltdowns this year: First, a 1-11 season. Second, David Williams sitting on his ass and not firing Mason after said 1-11 season.

Sucks for Andrew but it is what it is. Hope his recovery goes well and he see's the field again. As for those gnatty little anchorclown fans, meh, they are starting to gnaw at each other and they haven't even lost their first 8 games yet.

Hate to hear that. I know I was hoping he'd come to UT, but things didn't happen that way obviously. Hopefully he can heal fast and have a good comeback.

I recall immyaxl.....tried to pass himself off as a fan of all programs in Tennessee. Lying bastage. Pansybilt homer through and through. Goah I hate those guys.

"Is there any chance in God's green earth that we could find a highly respected older head coach- past his prime who could come in and be " Co Head Coach " with Mason? He would be there for guidance and helping run team matters and groom Mason a little better."

The latest on the candy board. Go as far as to wonder if Mack Brown could be ask to come in and teach Mason.
Why not just fire Mason.

Mason not getting fired for going 1-11 would make it even sweeter.

He seems oddly enamored with Mason. I also think the admins like him as well. No arrests under his watch so far, I believe. That's probably as good as a 9-3 season in their eyes.

I think it's that, pride because he hired him and I believe the talk about how many money people/boosters didn't like the bad press from the rape scandal and/or the type of players Franklin had brought in to compete.

I think for sake of "integrity" he is fine with Mason sucking for 2-3 years. Football will never be a priority there and there is no fanbase to cater to. If they couldn't get more than 30K Vandy fans to show up during 3 straight bowl years, it's not going to happen. Plus that was with the highest radio ratings grabber in town at the time (Clay Travis) pushing Frankin and the program constantly.

That's just sad, but I believe you're right. They probably ran the numbers from the Franklin era and saw that attendance/merchandise sales didn't increase enough to justify any potential black eyes on the university's name.

Instead, they will just sit back, go 1-11/3-9 and collect the SEC money while focusing on baseball and basketball to a lesser extent.

i hope they go 2-10 and they keep him. The longer he stays the better. Each passing recruiting yr their roster gets worse and worse. 1 or 2 more classes and it will be 1-11/2-10 type seasons annually for a long time.

Their fans don't seem to grasp this concept.

Their roster was actually pretty competitive during the Franklin era. It wasn't unlike Missouri's rosters the past two seasons, minus the elite DL. They had RS SRs all over the place who weren't great athletes but were experienced and developed. They also had NFL talent like Stacy, Matthews, Ladler, Johnson, Hal, Krause, Woestmann, Seymour, Spear, etc. Jordan Rodgers and Carta-Samuels were competent QBs as well.

All of those guys are gone and the cupboard is completely empty and in fact getting worse. Scheu is their only standout player right now and he's hobbled.

If Mason stays another year, their roster will be so far behind other SEC teams that they may not get a conference win for 3-4 seasons.
