'15 GA WR Preston Williams (UT Signee 2/4/15)

Don't blame poor education on teachers. This is an issue that starts in the home. Educating our children is the job of the parent.

I blame the devil. He tries to keep people from being able to read the bible. But that's why God blessed us with books on tape.

Don't blame poor OL play on coaches. Coaching our offensive lineman starts in the home.

Just sayin'. The teachers and school administrators have greater than zero culpability in all education issues. It is, in fact, their job to facilitate the education of children.

I've taught my kids everything they know. When they go to school, they're just practicing what they've already been taught at home. If they grow up to be academically inept, it will be my, and my wife, fault.

Previous poster said its the Devils fault. There is an enemy. He's mainly interest, and has had great success, in dismantling the home. Thus, leading to parents that rely on a godless government to educate their children...

Off my soapbox....

I bet we'll see PWill on the practice field soon.

Both of my parents are school teachers. Trust me guys, it ALL begins at home... from manners to work ethic to school to morals. The first ~10 years of your life is all about parenting.

The issue at home that is lost and has been lacking is RESPECT for your elders, COMPASSION for your fellow man and the lost art of shutting your mouth and listening. LISTEN. Teaching your children IS the job for and the reason why we have Teachers and Professors. Morals and respect are the jobs of the parents. And the way I see the younger people act these days is not easily comprehended. How many people on here have ever been paddled in school?

And if you come from a broken home? You have one parent... A mother... Perhaps she works two jobs... Perhaps she's strung out? Perhaps that will help you comprehend.

This guy has, but I'm 39. Whenever I got a paddling in school, I usually received another spanking at home or some other form of punishment. The reasons that teachers are ran over by children nowadays is because they don't receive any discipline at home nor in school. Just like college football players in programs who let them get away with everything, they feel entitled.

I am on your side on this...not sure how to take your post. That is where the teachers should identify students going through those circumstances and try to focus on these kids who need the extra help and understanding. And PATIENCE. I respect teachers for what they do...but some don't really have the resolve and the resilience to persevere when they come up against these types of situations. I can identify with what you said to an extent, BTW

Alot of illiteracy comes because teachers dont want to take time with the kids once the realization that they are slow learners. So they move some people into classes were they don't even teach them.I have friends that can take a car apart and rebuild it but cannot read or write.I was behind my class in reading in second and third grade but i had a teacher that helped me and by time i was in seventh grade i had passed my class.I played football, basketball and baseball and didn't apply myself but still graduated fourth in class of one hundred and eleven. And i got a 34 on the act,but i had a teacher that pushed me cause our families had ties but not all kids get the help. When i went to LMU the star of the basketball team could not read, and ondid his act he got his name right but that was it.Harlen County Ky highschool done him no favors he was good enough that he could have started at UK or UT or anywhere.

Did he play in the mid 80's with a first name of Nick?

I would say guiding your children.

My son has trouble spelling. (Whiz at math...)
I want to destroy a whole group of teachers that have told him the he is just a "poor speller". So of course now it has been enabled by these same teachers that don't count off for his spelling mistakes...and they are legion. I am the trouble maker parent that expects him to spell correctly (without spell check)...then turn around to find the teachers don't expect it at all.

So my angle is pride and self-worth. It is actually working... There is hope! :hi:

As previously noted, she's hispanic. So, unfortunately, they're stuck with me on Englishing, and her with Espanol.

Hey, mine too. We should compare notes. Here's the abridged version.

Mine was as well. Divorced now. Physically beautiful, but a complete b***h. I only blame myself for marrying her because we dated for 5 years before the marriage. I let my extreme lust overcome my common sense.
